CHAPTER 12 Jesse gasped, dragging herself from beneath Alec’s dead weight as something warm penetrated her nightdress, spreading across her skin. She shuddered, the pain in her chest causing explosions of light behind her vision. She was beyond fatigued. The act of shredding her father’s soul had taken everything she had. The gentle wind caused the wind chimes by the door to chime once more as it chased through the house, bringing a coolness to her heated skin.
