CHAPTER 6 Hearing the shower stop, Jesse quickly hid beneath the covers, covering herself completely until only her face could be seen peeking out from beneath the heavy duvet. She heard his footsteps freeze as the door opened and felt the weight of his stare upon her. She kept her eyes closed, hoping, praying, he’d think she was asleep. His bare feet padded across the wooden flooring until the mattress behind her dipped under his weight.
