Chapter 12THE WOMAN IN BLACK glanced at Luella’s hands only long enough to realize there was no gun. Adrenaline must have overtaken her, because she raced down the stairs, shoving Luella out of the way.
Mistletoe followed so quickly they both managed to bolt out the front door simultaneously.
As the burglar darted down the front steps, the dog did a nosedive into the snow, squirming around, getting all those cool fresh flakes matted into her fur.
Luella didn’t know quite what came over her. She wasn’t normally the type to give chase, but her legs made the decision. She followed the burglar out the door, down the front steps, and leapt at the woman.
