Chapter 6EVERY TIME LUELLA GLANCED in Chandelle’s direction, she found the girl staring into space. Of course, there wasn’t much else to do at a memorial service, but most eyes remained on the performers on stage or the sign language interpreter off to one side. The kids from Chandelle’s school certainly poured their hearts and souls into the service. There were plenty of speeches, songs and poems. Even a bit of interpretive dance thrown in for good measure. It was a positive sign that the youths were able to channel their despair into action. Luella wasn’t able to sit with Chandelle.
