Chapter 15“POLICE ALWAYS INVESTIGATE the family,” Chandelle said as they drove down Jane Street with Mistletoe sprawled contentedly in the back seat.
Chandelle had been so keen on taking Mistletoe for a walk, and missed so many opportunities due to Luella’s various whims, that she felt it only fair to take the two on a special outing. The weather was fair, so bright and sunny the snow and ice were melting off the sidewalks, and Chandelle’s school was having a half-day for professional development. Luella told the girl to dress down and wear her rattiest boots. They were going to High Park before they made their deliveries.
Of course, Chandelle’s version of dressing down meant trousers paired with a sweater instead of a jacket. For ratty boots, Luella found the girl’s rather chic. But
