3. I feel it

866 Words
It’s 12.30 in the night but I can’t wait anymore. I silently leave the house with my backpack on. It’s a 30-minute walk from my house to the address my father gave me so I took some water with me. I also brought a flashlight with me because it can get really dark in these woods. With that in mind I take off.   It takes me about 35 minutes to get to the Millers Park and it is really quiet once I arrive. I have to search a bit for the right cabin. There’s a light on inside and I can hear the tv. I walk up to the front door and stand there, arm raised to knock but afraid of what comes next. I stand there for what feels like hours before I salvage the nerve to nock. There’s some rumbling inside and then the door opens. It’s the man from the picture, my father, standing there in the doorway. He takes me in and speaks. “You’re doing the right thing Abby. I know you must be confused but I can help you. Please come in.” He takes a step aside and I step inside. It’s a standard cabin with just the bare minimum. He closes the door and walks up to the table suggesting me to go sit. I take a seat and look at him. My mouth opens but nothing comes out. I don’t know what to say or ask. It’s all just so overwhelming. He takes a seat on the other side of the table and leans in. “You must have a million questions, I’m here to answer all of them.” I close my mouth think for a minute and ask: “What did you mean with witch?” He looks at me, smiles and answers: “You have powers, just like me and I can teach you how to use them. We can create things with our minds. Let me show you.” He opens his hand and a flame appears. This scares me and I almost fall back with my chair. He closes his hand and quickly says: “Don’t be scared! This is one of the many things you can do with your powers. Let’s start off with something easy.” He walks to the coach, takes a pillow and pulls out some feathers. He carefully places them on the table and looks at me. “We are going to make them levitate.” He holds his hand above the feathers and a couple of them start to levitate. “It’s all about the feeling. You have to picture it in your mind and concentrate.” I slowly extend my arm and hold my hand above the feathers. I close my eyes and concentrate but nothing happens. “You really have to picture it. I know it might be strange, but you have to believe they can float.” I rub my hand, close my eyes en concentrate. This time I can see the feathers floating in my mind. A strange tingling feeling goes through my arm and I open my eyes. A couple of feathers are levitating under my hand. I gasp and the feathers fall back on to the table. “I did that?” I ask, still being unable to believe it. “That was all you, my girl.” He answers with a big smile on his face.   We practice this and some other small stuff for another few hours but then it’s time to go home before mom notices that I’m gone. I quickly hike back home and crash in bed. 5.30 the alarm reads. A couple of ours sleep before Matt gets here, I think to myself as I close my eyes and drift off.   I wake up to the sound of Matt whispering my name. “He he, there you are.” I look at his face and he looks worried. “It’s kept you up all night, hasn’t it? I sit up, rub my eyes and say: “Yeah, kind of. I don’t know if I should tell you this but I went to visit him last night.” He looks shocked and I quickly explain what happened. “He taught me some things. You’re not going to believe this.” I take some feathers out of my pillow and place them between us. I take a quick look al Matt and see he’s staring at me. I close my eyes, concentrate and let the feathers float. Matt’s mouth falls wide open. “Awesome right!?” He’s taken aback. “Wha… ho…” He can’t find his words. After stammering for a while he says “How?” I just smile. “that’s not all I can do. Come I’ll show you.” We stay in my room for a bit while I show him what I can do. After that we chill a bit in the forest, which is basically my backyard. Matt stays for dinner but has to leave after that. I want to go back to my father and learn more, but my mom won’t let me out of the house without a good reason. I grab some stuff and tell here I’m going to Claire and that she should probably not expect me home until tomorrow. I give her a hug and a quick kiss and set off.
