Week 2: Character creation

Claire Tanner:

Background:

Claire comes from a quiet middle-class family. Her childhood was mostly happy, and she never question the fact that not everyone is as privileged as she is. She went to private schools since kindergarten, and she always had good grades. She broke a leg once in middle school and could not do Phys ed for weeks. It is during that time that she started programming classes on her laptop and has enjoyed programming ever since.

Personality:

Claire is an introvert, but she has a friendly demeanor which makes her likeable. Usually smiles a lot. She is a little naïve and tends to see the world through rose colored glasses. She does not dwell on the past much but always thinks about the future. She always feels a little shy but it does not always show.

Physical features:

Brown wavy hair and green eyes that are striking with her slightly tanned skin. She is not very athletic but a decent swimmer (water is soothing). 5’2’’. She loves comfortable but cute clothes with many pockets. She is a little busty, so she needs to make sure her clothes do not come off as tacky.

Social relations:

Claire usually has a good relationship with people in general, but she has only a few good friends. Jane is one of them. She is the one that keeps Claire grounded. Jane loves art but is to pragmatic to pursue it. She is studying business and administration to start her own company one day.

Claire never had a serious boyfriend; she feels too awkward when faced with good looking guys.

Claire has one sister, Vanessa, who is 12 years younger than her. Curious and artsy, Vanessa wants to draw manga when she is old enough. She still goes to elementary school. Does not feel good these days, stuck with a fever. Her kidneys are shutting down and she will need a transplant in a few months. Claire loves her sister to death and would do anything for her. They spend a lot of time together. Vanessa’s skin is lighter than Claire’s but she has the same green eyes.

Claire’s father is Noah Tanner. He is an electrical engineer in an automotive plant. He is a loving father but a little absent. He shields his daughters from the stresses of his job. Darker skin, brown hair cut very short, dark brown eyes.

Claire’s mother is Julia Tanner born Julia Levesque. A blonde with blue eyes. She is taller than Claire by 2 inches. She works as a biologist in a zoo. Her speciality is birds. Vanessa was not a planned pregnancy but still she loves her daughters. She loves photography and used to draw when younger. Tends to shield her daughters from difficulties and refuses to see them in risky situations. Freaked out when Claire broke her leg. Sometimes smells weird after work.
