“So… you don't want to be with him, or what?” Vanessa asked over the phone. I could sense her confusion. Vanessa has been my very good friend, but there was no need to tell her everything about me or my family. Anyone who knew her knew how much she idolized and loved my father. It's not that I didn't want to tell her, but what was the use when I did? I mean, would your opinion about someone you've always respected and looked up to change if you heard a different story?
