Marcus
The next morning I decided to help T’Jay with the stables. Anything to get away from the creepy twin vibe. Shovelin’ s**t is better than enduring that. And shovelin’ s**t is exactly what I’m doing. We need to change up some of these horses’ diets cuz damn this is disgustin’. I look over at T’Jay and he ain’t doing s**t but lovin’ on the damn horses. “So bruh whatchu gonna do bout Charlotte? I think you need to go all out, show her we cowboys be slangin’.” He did some weird ass pelvic pumpin’ move when he said that, actin a fool. “Naw but for real for real she’s gotten way too comfortable with these city boys. She’s forgotten her roots bruh. Honestly, I think she secretly loves it here but something ain’t right bout the town. Like if she could stay around her mama and the ranch she’d be good but we know she gotta go up into the town which ain’t gonna help. I don’t think she wanna sell the property either. I don’t know much bout her company but I don’t think she came here for that. Didn’t she say something bout her mama’s finances being f****d up?” I really can’t believe that about Mrs. DeeDee, I wish she would’ve told me. I can’t believe she didn’t tell me. “I got it!” I yelled a little louder than I should’ve. “I know what to do to make things right. Let’s go, quit playing with the horses and meet me by the truck.” With that I ran out to get to the truck.
It was a quick drive into town, straight to where I wanted to be. “Yo, why we at the bank?” I didn’t hear him at first, too caught up in my own thoughts but when I finally heard him I told him to just be cool. I walked in and asked to speak to the manager. We were shown into a room and I knew exactly what I needed to happen to get back in Mrs. DeeDee’s good graces.
We were in there for a few hours but everything was situated and I couldn’t wait to get back and lay out the rest of my plan. “Damn bro so you doing this huh? Aight well if your apology ain’t accepted after this then I dunno what to tell you.” We make a few more stops to get the rest of my apology together and head back to the ranch. “You said she liked the horses?” T’Jay was smiling at this, “Man, I gotchu!” We took everything over to the gazebo and decorated everything up real nice with lights and flowers. “You gonna ask her to marry you? Bruh bruh this is really going all out!” I stopped dead in my tracks. “Wait, what? You think this is too much? You think this is romantic huh? I ain’t trying to do all that. But I gotta make a big to do about all this, you heard what she said. I gotta show with my actions cuz my words ain’t shit.” T’Jay nodded his head and continued decorating. “It’s a little romantic. But I mean you right you gotta do it up big. I mean just don’t get down on one knee aight.” I suck my teeth at him cuz like really?
We finish up and it’s real nice like. I ain’t too shabby on all this. I got a bottle of some real nice wine in ice with some nice glasses. I got cheese and grapes. T’Jay gonna go pick her up on the horses and I put flowers all over the horses too. Now for me to get changed up real quick and put some cologne on cuz the ladies love a man that smells good and I’ll be set.

I got the horses ready to go and am on the way to Charlotte’s. I am so proud of my brother man. He ain’t never been an emotional dude and here he is setting up this romantic ass apology. Man now if he could see he got feelings for this chick it be all good. I don’t think he realizes it yet but I see it in his eyes. I just hope this all don’t blow up in his face. I hitch the horses up to the post and go to knock at the door but Mrs. Deedee was in the doorway staring at me with a huge smile on her face. I knew it, I knew I was the golden child. “Ma’am. I’m here to pick Charlotte up.” Her face changed up when she heard that. “Ma’am, as a chaperone. Um. Just a chaperone.” She looked so relieved when I said that. Damn, maybe I’m not the golden child. She walked down to me and placed a hand on my shoulder. “Baby, don’t take it the wrong way. But I thought you was here for Sam. She’s such a sweet girl and y’all just look real cute together.” I couldn’t help but bust out laughing. Her face straightened out real quick and my laughin’ stopped just as quickly. “Sorry ma’am. I mean I just, I don’t think that’s going to happen. I am um on a tight schedule and I don’t want Marcus to get mad. I need to pick Ms. Charlotte up.” I gave her my best smile and winked at her. She looked really surprised at that, “Oh. Oooh. Okay, yes! Okay! Let me get her! Wait! Does she need to dress nice?” I shake my head, and shrug my shoulders. “Ma’am I think a nice pair of jeans and top should do.” She ran back inside real quick and I couldn’t help but laugh.
About fifteen minutes later Charlotte came out and I gotta say ooo weeee. She was lookin’ good! If Marcus don’t fall for her then he’s a dumb ass. She had a shy ass smile and flipped her braids. “Daamn Ms. Charlotte you clean up nice! Look atcha! Got your hair did, some new boots and hat! Lookin’ like a million bucks! Spin! Spin!” She did a little spin and kicked her foot up. Man she cool as f**k. “Wait, wait. Take your hat off, let me see your hair girl!” She took it off and showed off her hair. It was perfect for what Marcus has planned. Her hair was braided up and braided into hearts on the sides of her head. I made an impressed face and then put my hands out towards the horses. She put her hat back on as she looked over the horses. “Oh my God! Gina looks so pretty! Look at her with all her flowers! Who’s this? Looking all cute! Who’s this other horse?” I chuckled cuz I knew she’d love how they’d look. “This Nipsey. Um, Marcus’s horse.” I kinda got nervous cuz I’m not trying to scare her off this apology. She did a slow nod, “Okay, so I heard you’re my chaperone? You’re gonna protect me from Satan right? He’s not gonna like throw me in a ditch right?” I laughed at that. “Naw man, he ain’t doin’ all that. I think you gonna really be cool with what’s comin’ up. This apology gonna blow your mind!” She was cheesin’ at that. Oh yeah! I’m definitely gonna play Cupid cuz ain’t no way these two can’t be together. She squealed and hugged me tight which threw me off cuz I was not expecting that! “Whoa whoa whoa! Yo man be cool! You can’t be showin’ all your cards straight away! Poker face man, poker face! Calm down. You good?” She was giggling but she calmed down. “Yeah man. I’m cool. Just really excited to see what’s up.”
