Shawna could feel the atmosphere inside the car turn colder.
The phone kept ringing.
"Answer it."
Zane's face was cold as he said those two words flatly.
For some reason, Shawna felt a little guilty. Still, she forced herself to answer the call.
"Hello?"
"I thought you might have already fallen asleep, since it took you so long to answer."
Julian's smiling voice came from the other end.
Shawna answered quietly, "No, I'm still outside."

Shawna did not want to say more, so she quickly asked, "Did you need something?"
"Didn't you ask me last time whether there were any research groups you could join? A friend of mine happens to need people for his research team. I think you can give it a try," Julian said gently.
