Chap 4 The Chen’s Kitchen

Author’s POV

After running for about 10 minutes, she reached her destination; The Chen’s Kitchen. Fixing her dress and after going through her bag one last time, she finally entered the cafe.

There were a whole lot of people eating, gossiping and ordering their foods. In short, it was a chaos in here but she didn’t mind at all as it was her first day of job. Reaching the counter she asked the waitress,

“Um.. hello ! It’s Anna. May I know where Mr Chen is..?”

“Is this Ms Anna, the new worker appointed three days back ?” The waitress maybe in her early thirties asked the girl.

“Yes yes, it’s Ms Anna.’

“Nice to meet you Ms Anna. Gimme a minute and I’ll call Boss for you.”

“Sure, thanks.”

The waitress pressed the button on the telephone and called the boss. After sometime, Mr Chen came and said..

Anna’s POV

When my breathing gets at a normal pace, I check my bag thoroughly and fix my blue hoodie which I’m matching with black jeans and black snickers. I’ve made a loose high ponytail which is looking elegant. Then I go inside the cafe where I’m appointed as a waitress three days back.

Hell..! It’s a mess in here, so chaotic. Every customer is in his own world of food and gossip. I’m already late so I rush towards the counter where a pretty red-head girl is standing wearing black jeans and white T-shirt with an apron of The Chen’s Kitchen logo.

She’s reading some orders. She has a fair face with pretty features. When I reach her, I ask,

“Um.. hello ! It’s Anna. May I know where Mr Chen is..?”

I guess she recognised me by my name. After having a little talk with me she called Mr Chen. Some time later, Mr Chen comes.

“Is this Ms Anna..?”

“Yes, it’s Anna. You called me three days back informing I was appointed as a waitress in your cafe.”

“Yeah, I did. I guess you’ve already read the description and know about your salary so you can start from today.”

“Thank you Mr Chen. It’ll be a pleasure to work here.”

He mouthed a Good Luck and went to his office.

“Hey Anna, it’s Crystal. I’m working here since 2 months. I guess we’ll enjoy working together.”

“Nice to meet you Crystal. I’m sure we’ll make a good bond.”

“So come with me, I’ll give you the uniform.”

We both go to the restroom and there she gives me the uniform, a white T-shirt and an apron. After changing the clothes, I go back to her.

“So... are we just two waitresses here or more..?”

“No no, it’s not just us. There’s a guy.. joined.. um I guess a week ago. He took leave for some days and today he was supposed to rejoin but I gue- Oh look, there he is-” pointing towards the main entrance “-his name is Mark Glaze” She added.

I look at the entrance and see a man but can’t see him properly as there’s a lot of chaos in here and he’s coming through the crowd of people. Upon reaching the counter, he greets Crystal,

“Hello Crystal ! Nice to see you again. The boss here..?”

“Nice to see you too Mark. Yeah the boss is here.”

And this is the time when I have a clear view of him and DAMN, he’s handsome.

His electric-blue eyes with a hint of purple lines swirled around his irises are looking so beautiful with his attractive thick eyebrows. He has an oval face with an ideal straight nose and thin pink lips. His brunette messy hair with some bangs are adding more beauty to his fair and a bit tanned face. And in addition to that, his well built muscular body is making him a devil in disguise claiming everyone’s attention. After ogling at his every feature, I put a serious look on my face so that he can’t find me drooling over him.

After talking with Crystal, he turns towards me with a beautiful smile,

“Hello there Ms, I’m Mark Glaze.”

“Hey.. Nice to meet you Mr Glaze. I’m Anna, Anna Frank.”

I reply with a smile though I’m highly irritated by the device in front of me because it isn’t working properly.

“Anna.. pretty name. By the way no formalities, call me Mark” he says and smiles a bit more to which I return the favour.

“Sure Mr Gla- I mean Mark”

He gives me a small smile and starts walking towards the restroom to get his apron and T-shirt. He comes back after sometime and starts his work also.
