CHAPTER- 6
After drinking water, he felt slightly fine and sighed, looking at Nisha’s room.
“Granny pretends to be strong but in reality, she is not only weak but also soft-hearted,” Abhinav’s lip curled in a smile, recalling that.
“I also know she is good at heart. Right? And Saira, I feel I know them more than you," he recalled his own words.
“Then why do not meet them?” Saira used to ask him.
“I will meet once I achieve my dreams,” that was one of excuse he gave her but only if he knew in good circumstances he will never meet them then in those days itself he must have been met them and was sure they would have embraced him as when Saira can make a person like him as her friend then surely they would have too after all he can see a glimpse of their upbringing in Saira’s.
“See Saira, I was right, I know them very much,” Abhinav found himself whispering those words. They stunned him at his own words.
“I should check on her,” Abhinav thought.
Without making a noise, he entered Nisha’s room and found her sleeping, leaning at the wall.
For some moment, he kept staring at her and moved near her. He made her lay comfortably and took a photo from her hand.
“I got you to love her a lot, but you shouldn’t cry. My awful friend used to cry daily, then the day he died,” he said sadly.
Tears slipped from his eyes, which he wiped before it could fall on Nisha’s hand. He kept the photo safe and moved outside, but not before smiling at Nisha.
“Granny, I mean magician is so good,” he thought to recall she let him stay in this room even after this room seems so precious to her.
He entered Siyali’s room, only to find her awake and adjusting bedsheets.
“Aunty good morning,” he chirpy said, Siyali surprisingly turned and checked the time which was showing 5:30 hours.
“You wake up so early?” Siyali asked in astonishment. He merely nodded in yes and tried to sit on the floor.
“What are you doing?” Siyali asked. He shuddered and stood looking down.
“Sitting,” he timidly whispered, Siyali came near him and lifted her hand. He closed his eyes and kept his hands at his cheeks.
“Don’t,” he whispered.
“You can sit on the sofa, or bed, no need to sit there,” she said, startling him.
“And I’ll never slap you, so you need not fear me. You’re like a son for me,” she said next, making his heart warm.
“But I like the floor, you know it is not only cool but also wide so I don’t get the tension of space,” Abhinav said, looking into her eyes.
“Oh god, Mumma, I love sitting down rather than on your bed as it’s cool and wide,” she recalled Sneha’s words and wiped her tears.
“You always remind me of Sneha, my daughter. She was like you, innocent chirpy,” Siyali said emotionally. He could see emerging tears in her eyes. He looked down, feeling regretful.
“Sneha? Where is she?” He asked, thinking about something crossing his fingers.
“My daughter, she is so far away. You don’t think about that, tell me why you are here so early?” Siyali diverted the topic.
“See I forget, I need fresh clothes. This is stinky,” he said, shaking his head.
“Today wear this, I’ll bring in the evening and tell me what you’ll eat?” Siyali asked, shaking her head over his antics.
“Anything, but Aunty who’s in my room? And why did you allow her? I don’t like anyone except you and Magician yes photo girl too yeah Sneha. She must be like you,” unknowingly he said, making her sentimental again.
“No, she wasn’t like me. She differed from me, like her Granny. She can’t see wrong, she was strong but don’t know why everyone says she did suicide," Siyali emotionally said, he gulped his anger looking away muttering an indistinct word.
“Abhinav, please don’t mention her before Ma. She’ll break again, and in your room, that lady is my friend. You know she’s good, in fact, when she saw you she said who’s this handsome boy?” Siyali said.
He blushed and hid his face from his hand, making Siyali adore him.
“Only if my Sneha would be alive, then she must get jealous of him seeing I am adoring someone else than her. Sneha, my daughter, why you left me. I pretend to be fine for your granny, but I am feeling difficult to live. I hope I get the chance to see you again and brace you in my arms, but I know this will never fulfil,” Siyali thought to turn her neck to hide tears.
“I know I am an elegant boy," he said giggling.
“Yes, I said, he’s a handsome boy. Also, when he’ll awake first thing he’ll behave well with her and also happily talk to her,” Siyali said, hiding sadness thinking about Anjali’s state. She can well understand her pain, so tried to lessen it.
“If she’ll not annoy me, then only I’ll be a dutiful boy but I know she will annoy me yesterday morning too, she annoyed me but you saved me,” he said blinking eyes thinking at least he can try that for his Aunty, Siyali nodded in yes.
“I forget how you fainted?” Siyali asked, recalling the night incident.
“I don’t know,” he stammered, Siyali got suspicious but Abhinav’s next words washed away that “yes remember I got a nightmare.”
“Nightmare?” Siyali asked.
“Yes, I always get it, sometimes it becomes worse,” Abhinav sadly recalled some untoward incidents.
“From now onwards when you get that, then take a deep breath and walk for a few minutes and also think about joyful moments," Siyali caressed his head. He nodded in yes.
“Aunty, you make breakfast for me until I’ll clean your room. Also, I’ll clean the hall,” he uttered after a few minutes.
“Please Aunty, don’t deny else I will be bored here,” he said seeing Siyali will be denied.
“Okay, but only room then you take a bath,” Siyali said, moving from there. He kept looking at her retreating figure, then stood with the glimmering face.
He saw here and there and picked a joint photo of Nisha, Siyali and Sneha which he hid going out of the room. He came in his room and hid that photo over the closet.
“Aunty won’t cry now, sorry Sneha but Aunty sobs seeing you also I have to remove your and Magician photo from Magician’s room but before that, I’ll clean the room,” he muttered going from there.
..........................
Anjali opened her eyes and looked here and there for Abhinav. She frightened ran in the hall whining, yelling “Abhi,” not getting the response, she felt like her heart was wrenching.
“He again left me,” Anjali grumbled
He came into the hall, ruffling his hand through his hair.
“My son,” Anjali mumbled, hugging him. Abhinav is about to respond to hug but Anjali’s next words enlarge anger in him which he tries to suppress.
“Please never leave me, I am sorry for that day. The situation wasn’t in my favour, else I allow no one to touch you. I abided by promise,” Anjali tried to say, but he pushed her.
His eyes became red making Anjali afraid as she knows this eye, it is the same eyes which she sees in her husband whenever he gets angry and how much Abhi is like Ram no one knows better than her; meanwhile, Abhinav's hands were in fist and face filled with aggression.
“Why are you yelling? My Magician is sleeping, don’t disturb her,” he said calmly, changing his expression. Anjali was quick enough to notice this change but did not get a reason. She tried to cup his face, but he took a step back, making her emotional.
Siyali came there and glared at him, saying, “Abhinav. What was that? She is your mother, ask sorry from her."
“Why always I? I will never apologize to her,” he, outraged, recalled Saira too used to say something like this.
By his anger, both ladies became afraid. Sensing that, Abhinav calmed and looked down, gripping his hand.
“I mean, she yelled and called me her son. I’m not her son, she’s bad, but I’m good,” he spoke sentimentally.
“It’s okay, but son,” Anjali tried to say, but Abhinav’s eyes turned more glassy. He held his head like that too, and pained.
“Anjali, I guess you should give him time and don’t worry he’ll be fine here,” Siyali said, seeing his state.
Anjali nodded in yes and moved from there crying. Siyali came near Abhinav and glared at him.
“What happened to your head?” Siyali asked fondling his hair, he turned his face saying “it pains.”
“We will go to Doctor but you know you shouldn’t have to behave like that, if you do this again then I’ll be angry. Will you like that?” Siyali sternly said the last words.
“You only show anger on me even when I did well, I am angry, I’ll not talk to you. I’ll only talk to the Magician and tell her I have let no one disturb her sleep,” he said moving from there, Siyali shook her head muttering “how can anyone develop this much attachment in a single day.”
.............................
It was afternoon time. No one was at home except Abhinav as Nisha went to the temple and Siyali to her work. He switched off the television and looked at the watch. He opened the window and looked at a few people in the locality. His gaze fell on the Kapoor’s house door, which was open.
He was about to close the window but stopped, seeing someone coming out.
“Terrible person,” he mumbled reminiscing about yesterday’s occurrence.
Payal came out and took mobile but she hid as her grandmother appeared, startling her.
“Thief too,” he mumbled.
“Payal, where are you going?” Gayatri asked, causing Payal to sweat.
“Grandma, I’m going to the temple to thank God as I’m getting such a beneficial relationship and the date is fixed so I will distribute sweets too. Do you need anything? Also, Grandma, I will be late as I want to attend the evening program,” Payal said looking down.
Gayatri caressed her head and moved from there saying “take your time.”
Payal sighed and left hurriedly, thanking her cleverness.
“Collect all information about her, whom she meets and what she is doing nowadays.” Someone said over the phone sneering.
“Payal Kapoor first way to destroy Kapoor, and another hand that over smartly brings destruction for Agnihotri,” that person mumbled.
Meanwhile, Abhinav became bored seeing outside, so he closed the window and sat at the sofa opening television again.
“I should go outside to play,” he thought and went in his room; took a joint photo which he hid in the morning and left from there closing the door.
Nearly after three hours, he came back and silently entered the house smiling. There was a photo in his hand which he kept seeing.
“Beautiful,” he muttered grinning and put a photo in his pocket.
He entered his room but was astounded to see Nisha angrily gazing at him. He tried to ask something but stopped by her words.
“Didn’t I tell you not to touch anything here?” She furiously asked, flinching him in fear. Immediately he moved back and hid behind the door.
“I didn’t touch,” he attempted to say, but Nisha pulled him and slapped him hard. He stumbled, and confusingly looked at her who was glaring at him, but her eyes had painful tears.
“I am sorry but what did I do?” He was afraid a little, thinking about something.
“Why did you touch my Sneha’s photo? Did you throw a garland? Right?” She angrily asked, making him a little relieved.
“Don’t dare to lie, except you no one can do such sin,” she yelled, seeing him opening the mouth.
“I did, but it wasn’t looking good,” he stuttered.
“Even though I don’t like it, now it does not matter. She’s dead,” Nisha tried to say but stopped listening to his voice.
“She is alive,” he angrily yelled.
“Did you understand? She’s alive, I did nothing wrong,” he said in the same tone but this time making Nisha angry as well she got hope.
“My Saira is alive. Nothing happened to her. If anyone will say she is dead, then I will forget every manner and even you don’t have the right to say that,” Abhinav said he was losing his temper.
