The sign beside the door reads: Professor Thorne, Alpha Instincts. Every muscle in my body braces remembering how I became a spectacle the day before. Today, I will be average, I decide. Forgettable. Average means invisible. Invisible means alive. I straighten my collar and hope that’s enough. The second I step in, the atmosphere shifts. The other students twist in their seats, an unspoken challenge in every glance, as if they’re just waiting for weakness. So much for that plan... I search for a corner, a quick escape, but my attention catches on someone tucked into the last row. Jax. His posture is easy, almost lazy, except he’s not relaxed at all; green eyes fixed on me, unreadable but sharp, stripping me bare with a look. My stomach plummets like I just missed a step in the dark. H
