Rescue or Revenge

Kamdiel"s heart raced as he gave instructions to his fellow military personnels, his subordinate, Phoenix had planted different personnels at different corners of the auction house. They were all heavily loaded and ready to strike at any given time no matter who it was. Soldiers were underground and also in camouflage around the environment. It was dark anyways, and easier to hide. Kamdiel ran through the plans with his team, “ You all will wait outside and be ready to strike on command, but firstly, I will go in there and see if I can rescue her myself.” Be vigilant and ready, and if anything goes wrong, know you gave up yourself for a good course. He saluted them and slowly made for the door of the auction house. The air in the auction house was thick with excitement, anticipation was bubbling in every corner of the room. The grand hall was fully packed with people, all eager to see the spectacle that was about to unfold. At the front, underneath the glimmering chandelier, stood the auction host, a chubby man with a greedy smile plastered across his face. He wore a clean black suit with a white shirt and an orange tie. He tapped the microphone, silencing the whispers that went across the room. “Ladies and gentlemen,” he began, his voice slick with charm, “we have a very... special item for you tonight.” Behind him, an iron cage was wheeled out onto the stage, the harsh scraping of metal echoing loudly across the room. Inside, folded in the corner like a wounded animal, was Kelita. Chains clinked as she stirred, lifting her tearful and angry face to peer through the iron bars. Her once radiant beauty was covered by bruises and cuts, but her strong spirit was far from broken. The crowd stirred restlessly, some leaning forward in their seats, others smirking knowingly. They had come for the show, and this was their main act of the night. Kelita’s heart pounded in her chest, and she clenched her fists, nails biting into her palms. Desperation clung to her like a second skin. Her once dignified life was now reduced to this, being sold like a mere object, they really saw her as an object, nothing more than a plaything for the highest bidder. She swallowed saliva hard, refusing to show the fear that was rising within her.The host’s grin widened as he raised his hand, gesturing to her as if she were a prized possession. “Kelita, the jewel of the “once” great Kadmiel family, a beauty unmatched!” He airquoted the word “once” His tone shifted, the innuendo hanging thick in the air. “And tonight, she could be yours.” The crowd erupted into murmurs, and Kelita felt their eyes crawling over her. She shivered in grief and disgust. The auction host let the anticipation grow before he delivered the next blow. “Starting bid... one dollar.” He chuckled, and the room joined him, their laughter echoing like a taunt in Kelita’s ears. Kelita’s stomach twisted. One dollar. The insult stung deep, but it was the intention behind it that hurt the most. They wanted to humiliate her, to show that she was worthless. She looked around, searching for any familiar face she could find, hoping, praying for someone, anyone at all to intervene, different thoughts ran through her mind, but there was no one. Then, a voice cut through the large room. “I’ll bid $50 million.”The room fell silent, all eyes turning toward the speaker. It was a man from the Wang Family, one of the Four Great Families that held power in the city. He stood with his arms crossed, a smug smile stretching across his face as he looked up at Kelita. Kelita’s blood ran cold. She recognized him immediately. He had wooed her once, promised her wealth and status if she agreed to be his, but she had rejected him outright due to the circumstances surrounding her brother and family. Her refusal had been met with deep bitterness and hatred, and now, it seemed, he had found his way to finally revenge. The man from the Wang Family laughed, his voice booming in the silent hall. “Fifty million, and I’ll make sure everyone here gets a turn. She can pay for her stupid arrogance in public.”The crowd roared in approval, their cruel laughter filling the space. The man stepped forward toward the stage, eyes gleaming with malicious intent. Kelita recoiled, her back pressing against the iron bars of the cage.“You... you would not dare!” Kelita spat, her voice shaking but bold and solid. “My brother, Kadmiel, will find you. He will come for me, and when he does….” The man from the Wang Family sneered, cutting her off. “Your brother? That fool can’t even protect you now. What’s he going to do when I’ve had my fun with you?” He reached into the cage, his fingers brushing against the tattered remains of her clothes. Kelita flinched, she was fighting back tears of rage and despair. The audience cheered him on, their jeers and chants growing louder as he tore at her clothes, exposing her beautiful skin to the jeering crowd. “Stop it! Do not touch me!” Kelita screamed and fought back, but her voice was swallowed by the noise making it meaningless for her to scream. Her heart raced as she realized that no one in this room would save her. Her hands shook as she reached for a piece of glass she had hidden in the folds of her clothing, if they would not let her die with dignity, she would take matters into her own hands. She lifted the glass to her neck ready to end it all. But before she could make the cut, the door to the auction house exploded open with a deafening crash. Silence fell over the room, and everybody"s attention was shifted towards the entrance of the auction house. A tall, well built figure stood there, hidden in the darkness, his silhouette well framed by the light that stood behind him. Slowly, he stepped forward, the room, parting like the red Sea in his wake. It was none other than her brother,Kamdiel.
