Chapter 13Ivo had been staying with Rafe each night, going home only briefly to tell his parents where he was. “How lovely that you have a new friend,” his mother had said. “Hasn’t he been good to you, giving you a job and a new suit? Does his flat have two bedrooms?” “No, Mama,” he’d said, bluntly, not caring to explain himself. “Enjoy yourself,” she had said. “Give Rafe our best.” Still in his dressing gown, naked underneath after their early morning lovemaking, Rafe looked up from The Sunday Times. “What are you grinning at?” “Mama’s reaction to my living here.” The look on Rafe’s face changed at once.
