Alpha Aiden sat on the large armchair in his office, and he kept tapping anxiously on the desk. He had called Alpha George yesterday as soon as Alpha Kade left.
They had both agreed to meet, but it was past one hour and he was still not here.
Just when it seemed like he was going to give up, the door swung open and his Beta John who was already in his late forties but still very strong, tall, and well built stood at the door.
“Alpha! Alpha George is here”
“Finally!” Aiden let out a soft breath and rose to his feet.
“Let him in!” He order and without hesitation, John left the office, when the door opened again. This time it was George.
“Sorry for keeping you waiting, a town at my pack was having some sort of ritual festival and had the entire road blocked, so I had to use my power as the Alpha to pass through”
George explained but Aiden had walked over to his mini wine cellar where he poured two shots of tequila and returned.
“Do you think the Alpha king knows about her identity?” George asked, gulping down the entire shot down his throat.
“I think that might be the case. Because I don't see any other reason he would show up here out of the blue and ask for her hand in marriage.”
Aiden spoke, his face etched with anxiety, making the wrinkles at the corner of his eye seven more visible.
“We can't let him have her. Alpha Kade is already too powerful and everything we have ever done is to find a means to be able to defeat him, Celine is our only means of defeating him, if he gets her, then we are finished”.
“What are we going to do, it's Kade we are talking about here. He is so ruthless and always gets what he wants”
“I know. But in this situation, we just have to table the issue to the council” Aiden suggested, pouring another shot of tequila but George looked confused as his forehead was etched with lines.
“You already told me the girl agreed to his marriage proposal, it would be a lost cause if we report him”
“Not if we can convince her. We both know how much she adores your son, he just has to play his part like he always did and she can stand before the council claiming his marriage proposal is a forced one and she can't be forced against her will”
Aiden explained as if he had it all planned already. But the truth remained that he could barely get a wink of sleep all night.
He had been making so much money from Celine's blood. After he found out her powers and the things she could do, her blood had been the means through which his pack had survived.
The treaty with the other pack was something other packs had wanted, but he got it because he had something to offer.
He would rather lick Celine and make sure she never sees the sky again than let her be taken away from him. Which was why the Alpha king's visits had rattled him too much and he kept thinking about it until he came up with this plan.
“But what if she doesn't agree with my son?” George asked with hesitation in his tone.
“Did you just listen to yourself, we both know how much she loves him. Kade is a scary man, she would never choose him over Damien, she only accepted his marriage proposal yesterday because she was scared coupled with the fact that he had saved her from the dungeon”
“This is all your fault!” George suddenly barked after taking the third shot of the tequila, his eyes slowly changing color.
“What are you talking about?” Aiden massages his temple.
“If only you had allowed my son to marry her all this time, then none of this would have happened but you have been so greedy and kept selling out her blood to anyone with enough money to grab your attention”
“She is my daughter! I will do what I want!”
“No! She is not your daughter, you only found her first. This is only going to work if we can hold the marriage between her and my son as soon as possible, else there is no way we would be able to stop Kade from getting his hands on her!”
George spoke with finality in his tone and Aiden knew that he was right. Even though he was not ready to hand her
over to anyone, Alpha Kade was not an option and he didn't want to take any chances.
