It has always been like that, whenever Simon spoke about the pure-blooded wolves, there was always fear in his eyes, as if they were never to be mentioned.
Even though I believed that they were wolves sent by the moon goddess to save us from several kinds of rare illnesses. But it didn't seem so with Simon yet he would never explain further and preferred to speak in riddles.
As I stepped out of his house. A few of my men stood outside on standby, I thought of ways I would get Celine's blood.
But it was going to be difficult, especially now that we were not married and not living on the same roof. Since Simon thought that I had to get a sample of her blood as quickly as possible, I knew that I either had to find a way or we had to get married today.
While I was still lost in my thoughts, I was jerked back to reality by a voice in my head, it was Rowan connecting to me through the mindlink.
“Alpha!” He called with urgency in his tone. “Miss Celine is here”
“What do you mean she is here, where?” I asked a very stupid and obvious question since I was trying to process why she would be at my pack house.
“She is at the pack house Alpha and waiting for you” I ended the mindlink and as I strode back to my car. It was clear that there could only be two reasons she was here.
One, because she wanted to fasten the wedding just like I was thinking of doing, and second, she wanted to call off the wedding which would mostly be because she saw me that night at her home.
She had probably seen my eyes turn into a monster or a few changes that began to occur before I left Ferralmoon pack house.
I didn't need to say a word to Mathew, my driver. He could see the urgency in my eyes and sped at a very high speed.
As I walked into the pack house, Celine was seated in the living room holding a glass of mango juice but quickly dropped it and rose to her feet.
Staring at her from afar. I could see her features perfectly, her fair skin and her hair which seemed to be lacking much care looked silky, but her body….
She was so thin, it looked like I would be able to carry her up with just the tip of my finger. This made me so curious wondering the kind of cruelty she had been forced to go through for years.
“Alpha” she called out with a soft smile that seemed to conceal some of the pains she bears.
“I must say that this is quite a surprise visit”
“But I don't think it's as surprising as the first time I was here right?” She teased and I didn't even realize when I was smiling, like the widening of her cheek was so contagious.
“Yes, it was….. I must say I have so many impressions of you, but how about we talk about why you are here”
“Yes. She nodded trying to sit down but I pointed upstairs.
“Let's go to my office, it would be more private to talk”
“Sure” she followed behind, her eyes searched around the house with admiration.
“Is your pack house the biggest of all Chest Town packs?” She asked, following behind as we climbed the stairs.
“You can do so. I guess being the Alpha king has its perks”
“You must have lost a lot of staff to clean up such a big house”
“That is not the case. I prefer to keep my circle very small, that way I can be able to monitor any leaks, as for cleaning, I am not messy, I don't see the need for the staff to clean everyday”
“I see…. And despite how much you have been trying to minimize betrayal, you still leak” Her words sounded like sarcasm, I had to stop and turn to stare at her for a moment.
“Since you assured me that you can handle that aspect. I guess so I don't have to worry about that anymore right?”
I teased but it didn't seem like she could take a joke as she did not dare to answer. We came to a halt in front of my office, I twisted the doorknob and we both stepped in.
“Go ahead, have a seat”
“Thank you Alpha” she complied, seating at the relaxing couch by the other end of the large office.
“You do realize that we will be getting married very soon and you will have to drop the title when you speak to me right?”
She let out a deep breath. Her hands found their way to the hem of her dress and she clasped it tightly.
“About that Alpha…. That is why I am here”
“Oh! I see….” Even though I could already guess what she was about to say, I was genuinely curious to hear it from her.
“I think we would have to po
stpone the wedding” She blurted out with an almost scared expression, her gaze certainly avoiding mine.
