Kade's pov
I have lived for thirty years with this curse. But never met anyone who made me feel so vulnerable, it felt like she was staring directly into my heart and could see things that others couldn't.
Yet I could clearly see the pain in her eyes, she was like someone who had been broken over and over again and badly wanted revenge.
A part of me kept insisting that Alpha Aiden. Had sent her. But the small part of me, my wolf, knew she was here on her own.
This was a girl who knew what she wanted and came to get it.
“What is your name?” I asked, standing so close to her. There were so many questions I should be asking, like how she knew those things. Things I was certain no one else knew.
But that was her card and given her personality, she wasn't going to reveal it to me yet.
“I am Celine.” She smiled, behind the smile, the pain was still visible, I had no clue what this girl had been through, but whatever it was, it truly shattered her.
“You have such information about me. That is a wild card and yet all you can use it to ask from me is a marriage contract, you do realize what you are getting yourself into?”
“Are you talking about the rumors that say you are a monster?”
“Yes. Aren't you afraid of that?”
“Are you…. A monster?” A smile formed across her lips, and she seemed so relaxed like she had all the time in the world to play this game with me.
“I won't answer that question, you will find out yourself because I am getting this feeling that I will be seeing you alot”
“Does that mean you agree to the marriage proposal?” she asked, her eyes almost lit up. But I shook my head.
“No… not yet. I understand you know a few things that you are not supposed to know, but I still don't get how you will be helping me against your father?”
“I am his daughter, secrets that can ruin him, I have them”
“If you do, why come to me, you should have revealed them yourself” she scoffed, staring down at me.
“He is Alpha Aiden and you think I will make it past the Pack house gate, but you are powerful, with the right tools, no one can stop you!”
“And what do you get in return?”
“I don't need anything else” I briefly turned to stare at Rowan; obviously, he was as confused as I was.
There were so many ways she could get back at her father for whatever he did to her, yet she wanted a marriage with me.
She was pure blood, this felt so good to be true and even though it was sitting pretty right in front of me, I couldn't bring myself to believe that the moon goddess would be this kind to me.
“Fine! I accept it!” I blurted out and she let out a soft breath. I didn't know she had been holding all this while.
“Thank you! Just six months and I will be out of your skin!”
“Six months?” I frown, she could clearly see the disapproval in my expression. “Is that too much?” She asked.
“I will only get married once again in my life and it's forever, if you can't be with me forever, then you should forget it?”
She bit her lower lip, no doubt she was thinking about it.
“Fine. But no intimacy?”
“That would certainly not be an issue, I don't find you attractive” I teased. Stretching out my hand to her and she shook me.
“When can you come over to my pack to ask for my hand in marriage?”
“Certainly tomorrow” I assured her and her eyes lit up, like she had been in a cage, hoping to get out of it soon.
“I will be waiting” she smiled and for the first time since she walked through that day, there was hope in her eyes.
As soon as she was out of the office, Rowan hurried to my side, his brows furrowed.
“Alpha! This is a trap!”
“I don't care! But I am certain that she is a pureblood”
“We are not sure….” I turned to stare at him as he had just made the worst joke.
“Are you paying with me right now, my wolf almost jumped on her because of her scent and you say she is not a pure wolf”
“What if Alpha Aiden had somehow tampered with her scent to make it look like a pure wolf?”
“Is that even possible?” I caressed the bridge of my nose and returned to my seat.
“I don't know Alpha. But don't you see how absurd this sounds, walking in here and asking for a marriage contract, just to destroy her father, a man who raised her for twenty years?”
Rowan was right, nothing about her demands was right, yet all I could think about was her blood.
“Do you even know she is engaged to Alpha George's son?”
“What!” I growled, definitely not expecting that. That felt like a very hard blow to me. I grabbed the glass of whiskey on the desk and gulped down the last contents down my throat.
“Listen Rowan. I have no clue what is going on here. But she is pure blood, after years, there is finally hope of me breaking that curse and even if that is a trap, I will walk right through it and destroy every single one of them!!”
