Celine's pov
Once I was away from Alpha Kade's pack house, I let out a long breath. Even in my previous life, I had stories about his pack house; it was so scary that no girl ever wanted to mingle with him.
But staring at it now. It didn't seem that scary; maybe the rumors aren't true, but there is only one way to find out.
I took a cab and returned home. By the time I did, it was almost noon. I expected that maybe things would change this time and Jessica would have visited the cartographer alone.
But just as I returned, Jessica rushed over to my side, no doubt she had been waiting for me, she had that perfect mask that seemed like she was worried about me.
“Celine!” She called as she rushed over to my side and wrapped her arms around me, her gaze so tender on me. “You got me so worried. Where did you run off to?”
“I went to see a friend” I forced myself not to roll my eyes at her. This was a long game that I was playing and I couldn't let them know that I was into them.
“A friend?” She stressed out the word, and a frown appeared on her lips. “Father had asked you to go and meet with the cartographer. Celine you know how important this is and yet you went to see a friend?”
“I am sorry Jessica, but it was important”
“Important? Who is this friend of yours that has to be important, are you cheating on Damien?”
I couldn't stand her pretense, so I started walking away, but she followed me. “Are you walking out on me? Talk to me, Celine. Father has been waiting for you and do you even know how much I pleaded with him”
Yeah! Yeah!! It has always been the same story, the good daughter who always pleaded on my behalf in front of my father.
“Thanks Jessica but I think…..” I wasn't done talking when the large door to the front entrance swung open and Father stepped out.
I lowered my head as Jessica also did the same. I knew he had released his aura on purpose, but somehow it didn't have much effect on me, it never did but most times I just pretended out of my respect for him.
“Where are you coming from Celine?” Father asked but didn't give me the chance to answer because the next second, he lifted his hand and landed a hard slap on my face.
I staggered back, my palm caressing my throbbing cheek. “How dare you disobey my order!” He roared, his eyes red and consumed with rage, with each step he took towards me, I took two steps backwards.
“I asked you to meet with the cartographer so you can finally start sketching the designs, do you realize how important this is to our pack?”
He continued to yell at me, but no matter how many times both of them have reminded me about how important this is, the only thing I recall is them trying to use this event as an excuse for their selfish gain.
“I apologize Father…. I will go and see…..”
“Don't bother, he cut me off. You will be locked up in the dungeon for two days without food and water and by the time you are out, maybe your senses will return with you and you won't dare disobey me next time”
That was his usual punishment, except it was better this time. He was only locking me up for two days because he needed me to sketch the plan of all our territories for the upcoming treaty, knowing fully well that I was the only one capable of handling the task perfectly.
But what he hasn't realized yet is the fact that. Once I am out of here, I won't be sketching out the territories rather I will be leaving this house, and let's see who would take the blame for the fallout at the treaty.
Father didn't need to say a word, the guards were all familiar with this scene. Just as he looked their way, two guards rushed towards me. Grabbed my arm and started dragging me out of there.
I didn't resist or even plead like I usually did because I knew I just had a few more days left and I would be out of this pack.
One of the guards opened the dungeon and like a piece of trash, they threw me right inside. I forcefully fell inside, bruising my left knee.
“Ouch!!” I winced in pain. The dungeon was dark, making me clasp my arms around my knees like I was bracing myself for the trauma that came along with it.
As I lay there in the dark cold, I began to shiver, this was bringing back memories of when I was just ten years old. I had no wolf, yet I was always brought in here, made to spend weeks with no food, and only brought out until I was almost at the verge of death.
Father always stopped his punishment when I became of age and became very useful to the pack, but now the treaty was at the corner which had been pushing him to the edge and he wanted me to behave at my best behavior.
But I wasn't sure I was going to survive it because slowly the cold penetrated my bones and veins, and all my hands were shaky until I could no longer feel them.
