CHAPTER FIFTEEN

1540 Words
After deep cleaning my house on Sunday, I decided to visit my mum. I didn't have the time to cook or bake anything so I just bought cake, coconut cookies, Oreo milkshakes and two pizzas. I didn't tell her that I was coming, I wanted it to be a surprise. I knocked on the door thrice but I didn't get a response, I turned the door knob and the door opened. “Mum!” I yelled from the kitchen, “It's Tura, are you home?” I heard footsteps, it seemed like she wasn't alone. “My baby!” She said jumping on me “Hi pumpkin.” Uncle Ezekiel said, hugging me. “Mmhm, you two look like you were busy. Did I interrupt anything?” Mum was wearing a very short nightie and her hair was rough even though she tried to hide the mess by packing her hair in a bun, uncle Ezekiel was sweating all over, his hair too was messy and he wore his shirt inside out. “Nothing at all, honey. How're you? You didn't tell me that you were coming.” “Because it's a surprise mum. And, the door was open, anybody could have just walked in, taken whatever they wanted and leave.” “Sorry honey, I told your uncle to lock it, I guess he forgot.” “My bad Tura, I will try not to forget next time.” “I missed you guys so much. The house looks beautiful, you did a good job renovating the it.” “Well, your uncle and I wanted it to be a surprise. Do you like it?” “I love it.” “C'mon,” my uncle said “check out your room.” I ran like a child into my room and I was blown away. There were nurals on my walls, blue and white bed covers, a chandelier in the middle of the ceiling, a small swing beside my bed, a blue wardrobe, a big love shaped standing mirror, and a lot more. “Oh my God mum. Thank you so much, how did all of this fit into my room? It seems bigger to me.” “Yes it is. We called some people, what are they called honey?” “Erm, house guys.” my uncle said “Yes, they broke the walls and added more space to your room.” “I don't live here anymore, but still, thank you so much for thinking about me mum. Thank you Uncle Ezekiel.” “No need to thank us baby, it's our job to think about you.” “So, is there any other new development that I need to know about?” I asked “Emm, none at the moment.” “Oh c'mon mum, I have eyes. Are you and my uncle dating?” Mum looked at me wide eyed and my uncle spat out his coffee. “Guys? Say something.” Uncle Ezekiel walked towards my mum held her hand tightly and together they said, “Yes, Tura.” “Why didn't you guys tell me? You should have told me mum, I want to be in the loop.” “Of course I was going to tell you about it, but I was waiting for the right time. I didn't know how you'd feel about it.” “Feel? Mum I'm happy for you, I've always known that you've loved each other for like, forever.” “Thank you baby.” “How long have you guys been dating?” “Don't be mad at us Tura.” “Why would I be? Cos you guys have been dating for months? It's totally fine.” “Four years.” “What!?” “Chill out Tura, it's was my decision, your uncle has nothing do with this.” “No I won't chill out, also, I don't care whose decision it was. You've been dating for four years and you didn't think that you had to tell me? So if I hadn't visited today, I wouldn't have known. When we're you planning on telling me?” “Believe it or not baby, we were going to visit you next week and tell you everything but then, you beat us to it. We're sorry baby.” “It's fine, it's ok. You're not the only ones with secrets anyways.” “What does that mean? You aren't telling me everything that's happening in your life? Why?” “Why? Because I'm an adult mum. I have the right to keep things to myself until I'm ready to share them with you, just like you did.” “Don't change the topic Tura. What happened? Are you ok?” “Yes mum, I'm fine. It's just - something happened.” "What is it honey?" “Someone sent me a lot of money, anonymously.” “That's no biggie, go to your bank and report it “ “Anonymously mum, I can't trace it.” “So what are you going to do? How much is the money?” “Ten million.” “What!?” They said simultaneously “Chill out guys.” “Baby you have to find a way to return that money to it's owner.” “No need, I've spent some of it.” “Tura,” my uncle said “we didn't raise you like that. Why did you do that?” “Answer that question Ketura and be fast about it, so that I'll know what to do to you.” “I did so because it's my money.” “What are you saying?” “Yeah, you said someone sent money to you anonymously and now you're saying that the money is yours. How?” “Jaden sent it to me.” There was silence in the room for about five seconds. “Jaden? He's back?” “I don't know mum. I don't even know how he got my account details. He sent me a text the day after he sent the money, telling me to use it.” “How do you know it's him?” “He called me Daisy mum. No one calls me that.” “Is he trying to buy his way back into your life?” “I don't know uncle. If he wanted to come back into my life he would have shown himself already.” “What game is he playing?” “I really don't care mum, if he still remembers me he would know that money cannot buy me.” “I hope he doesn't come back. I don't like him anymore, he left you just like that with no reasonable explanation.” “He won't come back mum, I think he's just feeling guilty or maybe he still cares. Maybe.” “Tura, do you still love him?” “I don't know mum. I can't say yes or no for now, it's easy for me to just say no because I haven't seen him in years. If I see him, then I can be sure of what I feel for him.” “I understand you dear. All I can say is, don't get yourself into a situation that isn't serving you.” “I won't mum. I just want to enjoy myself and grow. Jaden isn't the center if my world.” “He isn't. Ooh, I see you brought goodies with you, how lovely.” “Yeah I did mum. Let's eat, I'm hungry.” “I'll set the table ladies.” “He's so happy with you mum. You make him happy, see the light in his eyes.” “I try my best Tura. He makes me happy to, especially sexually.” “Eww mum, I don't want to know about that.” “Well I want to talk to someone about it.” “Tell your friends, not me.” “They're all busy with work. They don't even create the time to enjoy life. I am not like that, I will work and also play.” “As it should be. Well, I'm happy that you are being loved the way you ought to be loved.” “Thank you dear.” “When is the wedding?” “Oh my God Tura, are you a witch?” “Funny. I'm not, but I know it won't be long before it happens.” “He hasn't proposed yet but I know he will do it soon. He's been asking questions lately.” “What kind of questions?” “He asked if I'd love to have a garden, what kind of house I'll like to live in, if I like dogs and if I like big or small weddings.” “He just gave everything away, it's really obvious.” “He's a sweet man, I will be happy and content as his wife.” We ate and laughed and talked just like we used to when I lived with them. It gave me ecstasy, and it made me realize how much we've all grown and how important it is to cherish all the moments we've shared.
