WOLFLESS

SCARLET OMEGA’S POV What was I thinking? That I’d escape Ivy’s scheme? I knew she wouldn’t let me off the hook easily. A devilish glint tipped the corner of her lips. “It’s very easy newbie. To earn your place in this college…” her voice trailed off, as she stretched out her hands. “Beat my wolf, and I’ll never disturb you again.” I winced. If any of the students ever sensed that I didn’t have a wolf, they were going to make my life a total nuisance. I swallowed through the dry patch of my throat. From the look on her face, there was no point dragging out a dialogue. Albeit, I’d rather be damned than admit to being scared. Afterall, I wasn’t born wolfless. My lips thinned. I cleared my throat, and circled around her. “Don’t you think it’s quite embarrassing allowing our wolves to finish what we started in our human form?” The quadrangle stilled, I could clearly hear the students' pensive breath. They were clearly waiting for a defeat. There was going to be a defeat, yes. However, it wasn’t going to come from me. Ivy flinched, her cheeks flushed. Her nose flared. “Very well then, if you say so. We fight man to man.” I let out a dry laugh. “You mean, woman to woman.” Her cheeks turned red. “f**k you Scarlet f*****g Diaz.” She lunged at me with a scream. I’d seen Elena train countless times, I’d mastered how they moved without stepping into the ring. I delved to the other side, Ivy was this close to crashing. She regained her balance quick enough, and let out an exasperated scream. “I’m not going to spare you bastard!” I curled my hands into a fist, my chest pumping with adrenaline. I was wolfless, and I had a couple of years to hide it until I finally left college. Ivy wasn’t going to make me blow up my cover. “Catch me if you can, Ivy.” I could see the anger simmer in her face. She shifted into her wolf’s form, and lunged at me. This time, her wolf was fast and very calculating. I tried…oh, I freaking tried to escape from her grasp. Her wolf was faster, and held onto me. She pulled me by my hair, and shoved me right into the wall. I crashed, and I swear I heard a bone cracked in my hand. I grabbed onto, shifting further into the wall when o heard footsteps. “Cmon newbie. You want to show yourself, huh?” Ivy’s tone dropped with mockery. “I’m going to teach you how to stay away from people who are not in your class.” Ivy yanked her hands around my hair, and dragged me across the floor. “Can’t you see she’s wounded, let her go you asshole!” Lina shrieked. “Get this loser out of my way.” Her voice was curt. Suddenly, three ladies I’d recognized from the other day scooted over to us, and pulled Lina away. Lina shifted into her wolf’s form. And everywhere turned chaotic. Lina’s wolf was big, heck! Too big for a she-wolf. She let out a loud howl, and the ladies pulled back. Lina’s single action seemed to irritate Ivy, who tossed me aside. “I’m not going to say this again. Your friend is a loser.” Another howl. Ivy brought out something from her back pocket, and darted towards Lina’s wolf. “No! Stay away from her!” I screamed with every bit of energy I could muster. Ivy’s minions held me down. Still clutching on twisted hand, I tried to wriggle out of their clutch. It was too late. Ivy raised the silver knife in her hands, and stabbed Lina’s wolf. That was it. Something snapped in my core. Maybe it was pent up anger for not standing up for myself. Or it was the way I was too helpless to help the one person that stood up for me when she barely knew me. I was done, ready to fight. Wolfless or not. I broke out of the clutch, and rammed towards Ivy, bringing her down to the ground. My impact against her was so much, I didn’t give her time to shift. I punched her nose, until my knuckles were red with her blood. The scent of her blood made my veins sing with intense victory. Oh, I yanked her by the hair, and dragged her across the ground. The students parted as I groaned in pain. My hands suddenly stopped paining me. Instead, I was blinded by rage. “Pl-pl-pleaseee…” Ivy winced. “Let. Me. Go.” She bit out the words, her voice wrapped in pains. Exactly what I thought. I lifted her up, and made to hit her against the ground. I wanted her to feel the pain of a broken bone. I wanted her to feel the pain of a silver knife sliced into her flesh with this impact. My entire body vibrated with an intense urge for vengeance, blood and flesh. I’d never been so mad to the pint of wanting my pound of flesh. “Please, Scarlet. Please.” I tossed her aside, walks over to Alina who’s by now shifted into her wolf’s form, and was wincing in pain from the injury. It was deep, even with healing abilities it was going to take time. “Scarlet, take me to the infirmary, my wolf doesn’t have the ability to heal.” Lina gasped. I quickly carried her on my back, and started my way out of the quadrangle. I stoped abruptly in my tracks, when I came face to face with the Castillo triplets. They’re the reason the entire school hates me in the first place. Kade sauntered towards me, his face a mixture of stoic, and tensed. I blinked, and the past that was tensed seemed to roll off. “Stay away from me.” Vance grunted. “Two things are possible right now, and your friend dying in your hand is at the top of that list.” My throat went dry. Vance flirty looks, and tousled hair wasn’t helping matters. I made to sidestep them, when Kade stood right in front of me. The Angel who never speaks. “I can help her.” Lina winced. “There’ll be no need for that.” I said, and shoved them aside. By the time we got to the infirmary, my shirt, and hands were stained with blood. Doctors rushed into the room, to commence treatment on Lina. I watched in horror, as they stitched her wounds. Some wolves aren’t so lucky to be blessed with the healing abilities. I wonder what Lina’s wolf powers were. “I have a broken hand—” I stopped mid-sentence when noticed my hand wasn’t broken anymore. It was healed, and perfectly okay. “Did you say you have a broken hand?” The doctor asked. I shook my head, hoping my shock wasn’t evident on my face. “Yes. I mean, No,” I paused to catch a breath. “I mean, please take care of my friend well.” I was sure I heard my bone cracked. I recalled the impact from the pain vividly. What happened?
