ENDANGERED CURIOSITY

ROMAN’S POV Bobby groaned in pain, his hands trembled as silver blades dug into them. “Please, please I beg you Alpha Roman…” tears pooled at the corner of his eyes. The pathetic fool couldn’t withstand pain, and he had the guts to put her through it. “Deeper, I want his blood to color my tiles tonight.” Another round of tears. “I beg you in the name of the moon goddess, I would never lay hands on her again.” I exchanged glances with Kade who’d gone back to his overly laidback expression. I wasn’t going to negotiate with a man who thought the best way to go about things was to hit a woman. My skin buzzed with a weird sensation. My mate. My wolf agreed with me. “Bobby, I asked you to give her the advance so you’d keep an eye on her,” I said after a beat. “What did you do?” The Delta wolf quivered in fear, as my wolf became more dominant. “Please!” He groaned, his face turned red from torture. “Where is she?” Muffled cries filled the room. My patience snapped, I stomped my foot against the marble tiles. “I said, where is she, the f**k!” He shrieked. Bobby was such a disgrace to the male race. When it trickled down to women, he was aggressive and commanding. He was in my presence, and was acting like a limp d**k. “I just asked a question, Bobby,” I asserted, my voice came out steady, like I was not fighting the prickling sensation to end him…right now. I barely got into an altercation with people. It was a dead zone for me, never to return. Bobby gasping for air, as he fought for his life is the only thing that’ll quench my hunger for blood. “Get out!” Kade’s voice came out in labored pants. Bobby’s eyes lit up with a hint of hope. I snapped my head to face Kade. “What’s the point of ending him? Do you know how many more will flaunt our rules?” I knew that tone when I heard one. “Besides, we need him more than ever. Don’t you think so, Alpha?” Kade was trying to dialogue Bobby’s chances of survival. f**k Vance who was always brash and ready to throw fist at the slightest chance he gets, even with his weapons. Kade was more likely to become Alpha if he wanted. Plus his rather weird wolf ability— he could see the future. That didn’t help matters in any way. I turned to face Bobby who clasped his hands, and fell face flat, mumbling like a baby who was denied candy. “Touch another she-wolf in this pack, and I’ll have your body chopped off before I finish you off.” He lifted his face, his lips trembling with apprehension. “Get out!” Bobby’s eyes widened in shock. My jaw tensed. “I said get the hell out, before I change my mind!” I watched with distaste as he scampered out of the office. “What was that for?” Kade looked around the room, his face contorted in oblivion. “What did you do that for, Kade?” “How many more will you kill for a woman you’d not claim as your mate?” His question didn’t need an answer. Even if it did, I didn’t have any to give. Kade took off his glasses, which was medicated by the way. Kade was the strangest out of the three of us. He was a freaking Alpha wolf who should have clear eyesight. He was partially blind from birth, and had to put up with glasses to see properly. He was the youngest, but he fascinated me with layers of him. Laidback, and keeping all his vision to himself irked me the most. I was Alpha, I should know. Each time he told us a vision he got, I had a gut feeling he was keeping so much from us…from me. “What does it matter? Bobby shouldn't have hit her, or any other woman.” Amusement washed against his face. “Any other woman huh?” I gave him a stiff nod. “I want to take a sprint. See you much later.” “Did you notice anything about your mate tonight?” I paused suddenly, my back facing him. I dipped my hands into my pocket, holding back my wolf who was by now sneering while he hovered on my surface. “Kade, you know how much I hate to guess. Tell me, what is it?” Silence rented the air for a few seconds. Kade straightened on his seat, staring at me with a blank expression on his face. “Scarlet hasn’t scented our wolves?” He said after a beat. “Like she cannot feel it.” I tilted my head sideways, as his words registered in my mind. “What are you talking about?” Kade let out a labored sigh. “On the day of the opening ceremony, the day we scented her out. She didn’t react to it.” I paused, and laughed, a long sarcastic laugh. His eyebrows shot in confusion. “Have I suddenly turned to a clown?” Kade quipped, his voice came out confused. The laughter that rumbled from my chest intensified. “Oh my goodness! I’m sorry, I’m sorry! I didn’t—” I almost choked on my laugh. Kade pushed himself up, pacing the length of the room. “You don’t believe me do you?” I cleared my throat, and got serious instantly. “No!” My response was curt. He grimaced. “Roman, you’re the Alpha.” “And you’re the one who sees the future and should tell us what to do,” I paused, and added beating him to it. “What did you do?” Kade shrugged, rubbing his hands against his jaw. “I did what was right.” My nose flared. He was getting on my last nerves, and he knew how much I hated it when he did that. I rubbed my fingers, “Is there something you’re not telling me?” Tension lined his shoulder plane, as he turned to face me. “I don’t understand, Alpha.” “Kade, you see the future. I knew you saw her coming, why didn’t you mention?” “You’re not sure I saw that in my vision, are you?” My lips thinned. “If you think you can escape this conversation—” He cut in midsentence. “Let’s just say I was curious to know if my vision matches with my reality,” He looked down at his wristwatch. “One more thing, you should put Vance in check before he gets out of hand. You know how wild his wolf can get.”
