ELENA’S POV
“Elena, you’re spending time with me.” Kade whispered into my ears, steadying me with his hands.
I grunted. Equal parts mad, and equal parts confused. I wasn’t going to pay attention to the unnerving feeling spreading through my bloodstream.
“Let. Me. Go.” I was on the brink of cussing him out. Kade didn’t budge.
“This is Moonwolf pack, you’re my mate. And you’ll do as I say.” His voice came out curt, refusing any form of opposition.
Perhaps, it was his choice of words, perhaps it was the mention of the word ‘mate’ that pissed me off. Heck! My blood sang with trepidation.
I shoved him away with all the strength I could muster, and started stalking off when I stopped abruptly in my tracks. Two hefty looking men stood right in front of me.
From their demeanor, I could tell they were enforcers. I spun around to face them, the tension in the lounge was deafening.
For one second since this madness started, Roman hadn’t taken his eyes off me. Kade on the other hand left backwards, his face contorted in sheer amusement.
“Honeycomb, you can’t run away from us.” Kade’s voice rumbled through the room. “It’s best you let things flow as they should.”
His voice sent chills down my spine.
I scoffed, rolling my eyes. I let out a sigh, contemplating if I should indulge in this conversation or not. It was already a discredit to me that I was on their freaking bad page.
They detested me. And these talks about being their mate was a sham to shove my flesh down their throat. This was an invitation to hell.
The Castillo triplets were powerful, and winning then in a fight was like asking for rain in drought—impossible. But the one thing I knew, I wasn’t going down without a fight.
“Kade Castillo…” My voice was drowned by the gasps of students. I didn’t care. I was already neck deep in the rival to look back. “I don’t care what you and your other rusty brothers do!” I screamed at the top of my lungs, I was sure other guests in the lower floors picked out my voice even through the blaring music.
I caught a glimpse of Roman’s eyebrows shooting up. He smirked, before the icy expression spread over his face.
I cleared my throat. “If you need any drink on your table, I’m at your service.” I said, and stomped out of the room.
I collapsed onto the chair at the staff quarters. My lungs were clogged with pent up oxygen I needed to let out of my system, and fast.
“Hey Scarlet! Bobby’s sent for you.” One of the staff in the club announced.
I didn’t move, surprised at my own action. The staff let out a string of cuss words in some native wolf language. “Now!”
Bobby was either going to give me an indefinite suspension, or I was going to be fired. I’d committed a grievous offense. I shouldn’t have countered the Castillo triplets, especially not when others were there.
Even worse, I was here on Lina’s recommendation. I made my way through the enclosed hallway that was opened to only the staff. Fine minted later, I was standing in front of Bobby’s office door.
Cold sweat broke out on my forehead. I needed this job badly. I had bills to pay, my father made it clear that he wasn’t going to pay for anything other than my fees.
My breath came out in labored pants, before I knocked once. A small growl greeted me. I twisted the doorknob and pushed the door open.
“If it’s not my most popular bargirl.”
My hands curled into a fist. “I’m not a bargirl,” I began, my tone firm. “I’m a waitress, and would love for you to refer to me as such.”
Bobby cackled, and pushed himself from the couch. His shirt had a handful of loose buttons that didn’t add any appeal to him. A stick of cigarette hung at the corner of his lips.
His trousers were loose, and from the small budge that poked his pants, I guess he’d been ‘busy’
“Bob!” A sweet feminine voice echoed from the back of the room, followed by the sound of stilettos clicking against the marble tiles. A lady strutted into the living area of the room.
She was naked safe for the lace pant, and she was straddled against her thighs. One look at her, and I shifted my gaze to the floor.
Bob whistled, circling around me. “What is this news I hear?”
No response.
I had an answer to that, but my tongue seemed twisted. I couldn’t make out any word.
The lady giggled. “She’s pretty, I wonder why she’s holding back.”
I retched. They exchanged glances, and let out a mocking laugh. Bobby was a Delta wolf that made his fortune from Casinos, and club. This one however, was exclusive to only a selected elite, the Castillo being at the top of the list.
“Why were you rude to our Alphas?”
I lifted my chin, and stared at him squarely, “I’m a waitress and not one of the lady in their harem.”
The lady smacked her lips. “Ouu. I love her, she has the bite in her.”
Bobby blew on his cigarette, and exhaled sharply. “Words have it that they call you mate—”
I cut in. I could feel the vein at the side of my neck pumping with adrenaline. “They’re not my mate.”
Bobby flinched, clearly unimpressed by my attitude. “That’s odd,” he said after a beat passed. “Are you trying to say our Alphas are lying?”
My lips thinned. “I’m not responsible for how you think, Bobby. I came here to work, and my job description—”
His jaw tightened. “Shut the f**k up!” He glared daggers at me. “The Castillo triplets own seventy percent of what you see! They practically own this place, and everyone which includes you!”
I shook myself. “On the contrary, they do not.”
