ELENA’S POV I should’ve known that by now. Standing up for myself came with a lot of turmoil, like I was about to face now. Bobby sneered, staring me down with an icy stare. “What did you just say?” My breath hitched, a lump gathered around my thrust. I raised my hands in defense to block out any hit, he might be swinging my way. Thanks to my father for the training, I knew how to block out intending punches. Even though I never had the audacity to block out him. This was going to be my first, if we’re not counting my little fight with Ivy. Bobby smirked. “Look who’s scared now,” he pushed his hands forward, and grabbed me by the neck. I choked, gasping for air. The more I tried to drag in oxygen into my lungs, the more it escaped, leaving me with little oxygen to survive. I was slowly losing my stance, and my vision was fading out. I threw weak slaps at Bobby, he didn’t flinch. “As long as you have an advance in your possession, I own you Scarlet. I own you.” The words fell out of his mouth with ire. Something faint, but venomous growled in my core. Anger blinded my vision, as I pushed Bobby with all the strength I could garner. He’d not seen the move coming, he crashed against the wall with a thud. I could’ve sworn I heard a crack. I didn’t know if it was the wall or his bone. Or even why I was still standing, still holding gazes with a man that was fuming. Bobby’s face was the colour of a hydrant. ‘Keep it moving, else he’s going to kill you!’ A tiny voice at the back of my head cautioned. I didn’t move. There was no hiding place for me in Moon wolf college. I didn’t have parents who’d come calling, or even lose sleep over me. I didn’t have a wolf who’d be my second skin. And to make it worse, my bone reset back to place after I felt it dangling out of its joint. ‘Your wolf was forcefully taken away from you.’ Another voice said in my head. It was just me. I needed to find a way to survive my ordeal, with my head still on my neck. I curled my hands, my nose flared. “Oh, I’m aware you paid me advance. But I kept my own end of the bargain.” Bobby groaned, pushing himself from the ground. “Little b***h—” I growled, cutting him off. “I am not one of your bitches. And you’ll not refer to me as one.” “What will you do, huh?” He folded giants over his chest. “Beat me up? Kill me?” Something weird lurched in my stomach. “Bobby, you don’t want to see what I do to people I don’t like.” He made a tsk sound. “Because you were lucky with Ivy, doesn’t mean you’ll be lucky with her.” He tipped his head to the direction of the woman in the room. I rested my hands over my waist, shocked at what I was about to say. I swallowed my words. “I’m going to give you back your advance—” “Shh…” Dread washed through my spine. Bobby edged closer to me, folding his hands behind him. “What do you take me for? A fool?” No response. His eyebrows shot up in derision. “Answer me!” My body vibrated with trepidation. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Bobby scoffed, took two steps backwards and descended his hands against my cheeks. My cheeks burned with a painful sting. A loud cry pierced through the room, a few seconds passed before I realized the sound came from me. He tanked my hair around his fist, and pulled me off the ground. “You little bitch.” I lifted my chin, as I felt liquid dripping from my nose. “Do not call me that again!” I warned. My bones crackled with an itching need to poke my hands into his eyes, and gorge them out as payment for even thinking of raising his hands on me. I clawed my hands against my thighs, too deep I could feel my flesh sliding under my nails. “Newsflash! I do not want the money back,” he said with a tone of finality, and tossed me to the ground. I dragged myself back up to my feet. “I’m leaving this club.” He shook his head. “No you won’t, you don’t know how long I’ve waited for you.” I narrowed my eyes to capture the disaster that was going to follow Bobby’s previous statement. “What about me?” I quipped. Bobby’s eyes hovered over me for a quick second, then he looked away. “It’s been a minute since the Alphas actually showed interest in any other.” Oh, it’s about them. My face turned forlorn. “I am not interested .” “I don’t need you to be interested.” “Bobby, you won’t force me to do what I Don’t want to do.” “Look around you. Does this place look like your father’s palace.” Something about his statement, hit me on the wrong nerves. Tears pooled at the corner of my eyes. It’s jut me now. My family never wanted me to start with, and now I was being tortured by my boss. “No it doesn’t—” I countered. “My father’s pack Is way better than this—" my voice came out shaky. “Shut the f**k up. You’ll work in my club, and keep attracting the triplets. Do what the Castillo triplets say without any back and forth.” “Bobby, I owe you my life. But I’m not about to be a puppet in your sneaky games.” I wiped my bloodied nose with my hand, and the walked out of the room.
