SCARLET OMEGA’S POV I collapsed onto the floor in exhaustion the instant my eyes rested on the door. The sun had given way to darkeness, as stars shone in the velvety dark skies. A sigh of relief reached my ears from beside me. “I’m glad you made it out,” the voice was followed by footsteps. A lady walked towards me. She looked strangely familiar. Then, it clicked. It was the she-wolf from the elevator. She stretched her hands towards me, and pulled me up. Surprise lit up her eyes when her eyes took in my features. I shifted on my feet, confused. “My goodness!” She shrieked. My breath hitched. “Is there a problem?” I asked. “You weren’t hurt.” “Did you know about—” She nodded, grabbing my access card from me, and swiping it over the lock. She grabbed my hand luggage, and walked into my room first. I was too stunned to speak, so I just watched her. The room looked like a typical student room. Mid from the arrangement. That was all my credit card could afford. I’d checked in with the school secretary, who outrightly became mean because he couldn’t smell a wolf nor a mate off me. Great! Prior to now, I would’ve soaked my sheets in tears. Not anymore. Especially not when a random stranger I met in the elevator was setting my hand luggage into a small space that would serve as my closet. I rested my hands against my hips, tilting my head slightly. “Who are you?” She combed her hands through her hair, grinning from ear to ear. “My bad, I’m Lina Macaulay,” she said, stretching her hand for a handshake. I hesitated, and took it. “For the life of me, I was so scared when you pushed that seventh button.” I pulled away. “Thanks to you, I was stuck on a basketball pole.” Lina pressed her lips together, her face bewildered. She bowed her head. “I’m sorry, nobody interferes with the Alphas bounty.” I flinched. “The Alphas bounty?” My stomach twisted with dread. I didn’t even know what it meant, but the sound of that made my skin buzz with tension. Lina nodded. “The seventh floor is out of reach for everyone in Moonwolf college,” Her throat bulged, as she swallowed. “Everyone except defaulters.” I arched my eyebrows. “I didn’t do anything,” I said after a pause, and went to tell her about my encounter with a certain group of ladies. Lina grimaced. “Ivy Lorenzo,” she shook her head. “She’s a tale of disappointment and horror, stay away— s**t!” Lina gasped as her eyes caught the small alarm clock on my reading table. “We have barely twenty minutes to get ready!” I shook my head. “Get ready to where?” Lina’s eyes widened in shock. “The opening ceremony,” her voice sounded giddy. “This is the only time in a year we get to spend with the Castillo heirs. I’m not gonna miss it for anybody.” I sighed. “I’ll pass.” After my encounter with that stranger, and the school secretary, I didn’t want to deal with any more casualties. It was already enough I walked into their den like a helpless prey. Goosebumps filled my body as my mind flashed back to the gigantic wolf I’d seen before I passed out. Lina rested her hands against her hips. “Girl! This is college. You’re in your freshman year, you should live it,” she began. “Any Alpha and Beta wolf would die to attend Moonwolf college.” Every Alpha who’s not wolfless. “Yeah right.” I wanted to stay out of their way as much as I could. Go to college. Stay lowkey, and find a means to awaken my wolf. Graduate college, and start an art workshop while training a strong wolf. After Liam’s abandonment, I don’t think I wanted to have anything to do with any other wolf. Big bad wolves. Lina snickered. “You’re coming, and that’s final…” her voice trailed off. “Um…” “Scarlet…” I swallowed past the lump in my throat. “Scarlet Diaz.” Omega. An foreign emotion welled in my chest. Today was the official crowning ceremony of my twin sister. I made mental images of my family. How they celebrated without me in the picture, and the wide smile on their faces. I slouched onto the bed, feeling fuzzy. “I’ll just stay in tonight. Besides, I do not have an appropriate dress for the banquet.” Lina’s face beamed. “Leave that to me, Scarlet.” She said, “I’ll be back in five minutes. Have a quick shower, and wait for me.” I watched with sheer astonishment as Lina waltzed out of my room like someone who’d been given a present. One part of me wanted to ignore her, the other part, the part filled with curiosity, urged me to get my ass into the bathroom. I did. By the time I got out of the bathroom, Lina was waiting. “I got this!” She said, “Let’s get to work. The gate closes by midnight.” Anxiety simmered beneath my skin. “I’m not sure—” “Shh. We don’t want you smudging your makeup with worry before we get to the hall.” Lina worked on my face with paint brushes while she told me a little bit of herself. Daughter of a Beta who was under the care of her Alpha family. After the death of her father, they sent her to Moonwolf college. I saw the hurt in her eyes, I knew she shared almost the same fate as me. Meanwhile, I could sense her wolf hovering all over here. “All done!” She squealed. A small gasp escaped my lips as I stared at the reflection in the mirror. I look different. Lina giggled. “You’re so beautiful. I bet a thousand men would fight to have your hand at the dance floor.” I smiled my thanks. Then, she pulled out a dress and handed it to me. I hesitated. I was getting to know her. Lina shoved the dress in my hands, and waited for me to change into it. Her eyes nearly popped out of their socket. “We’re ready for the opening banquet.” The hall was insanely decorated to fit the luxury aesthetics. Raw colourful flowers were suspended in the air to give an illusion of flower rain. Gold sculptures decorated with diamonds sparkled at corners of the hall. The students moved around with so much allure. Lina squealed. “This is more beautiful than I thought.” She gestured to the waiter who brought us glasses of champagne. “This is dream come true for me!” I rolled my eyes. There’s no way I could be giddy over some wealthy Lycan bullies. Suddenly, my hands trembled. There was silence in the hall, I could hear a moth breath. Students gasped, moaned and murmured as three men walked in. My jaw grazed the floor in that instant. Asides that they were sinfully handsome, with stoic expressions on their faces. A part of me growled with dark excitement. Six feet plus. Perfect faces that made me question if I could bring it to life with my drawing. They possess the kind of aura that emasculates men. I pressed my legs together to keep my s*x from twitching any further. Butterflies went loose in my belly. Not in the way Liam Sanchez made me feel. This one was different— it was dark in a way that promised doom. Yet, I couldn’t bring myself to get my eyes off them. Lina edged closer to me. “The Castillo triplets in person,” her voice shook as she spoke. “The Leader. The manipulator. The angel.” Lina’s voice was a whisper, but I could suddenly pick everything she’d said. One of them climbed the platform, and bowed. His entire aura sizzled with Alpha competence. “Alpha Roman Castillo AKA the leader. He’s the first Castillo triplets, and the Alpha to be.” Lina said. He looked much bigger compared to the other two. He was dressed in a three piece, and I could outline his broad shoulders beneath his three piece. His hair was rolled in a man bun. For a quick second, I fantasized about twirling each strand around my fingers. “And that’s Alpha Vance Castillo…” Lina’s voice trailed off. “He’s the manipulator, and a f*****g playboy. I’m sure you can already tell.” She sounded bored and excited. Alpha Vance Castillo lived up to expectations. He was with Ivy and a group of other ladies. Then, she let out a dreamy sigh. “The angel…” Wait a second. I narrowed my eyes, and it fell on the last one. The one with lean muscles, and the face of an angel. He was the same man who’d brought me down from the pole. Dressed in a white shirt that was rolled up to his elbow to expose a good case of arm muscles, he looked every inch an angel. “Alpha Kade Castillo…” my throat felt parched. My body suddenly felt hot, and I downed the content of my drink. Lina beamed, nodding like a satisfied teacher. “Um…Scarlet, they’re coming towards us.” Her voice dripped with panic. My body was thrown into a state of reverie. All three of them waltzed towards us, as if they were following my scent. They sauntered towards us with the gait of a wolf, and the precision of a predator who’d left no room for their prey to escape. Even worse, they didn’t look any bit happy. If anything, their gaze was a boring deep hole into all parts of my body. “You’re so dead.” Someone whispered from the rear end. All three of them stood in front of me. Three pairs of eyes staring right into my soul. This isn’t the kind of attention I wanted from the Castillo triplets, and especially not at an opening ceremony. Alpha Roman chest rumbled with a growl, his expression seemed angry. The second one, Alpha Vance had his playboy smirk etched on his lips. While Angel just stared at me. Maybe it was their intense gaze. Or the way they were even more devastatingly handsome from up close. Something about them lit my system up. “Mate!” All three of them growled.
