Third wheeling

Maddie crossed her arms and turned her back to Richard with huff, coming face to face With Alison who was looking back and forth between Maddie and Richard with a confused look.

“What was that about” Alison asked referring to the whole musical chairs number Maddie and Richard just did.

“What?” I just wanted to sit as far away from Bianca as possible but I guess the brute was being a good wingman” Maddie answered, feigning innocence.

Alison paused for a second but then seemed to accept her answer.

“Well could you be a good wing man too and actually pretend to enjoy yourself tonight?” Alison questioned.

“Erica and Oliver already hooked up, why would she need my help” Maddie asked sending Alison a confused look.

“It’s not Erica!” Alison whispered through gritted teeth, pointing a finger at herself.

“Oh! Ohhhhh..” Maddie whispered back, looking closely at Alison for the first time since they left the penthouse.

She was in a low cut baby pink dress that flared out just below her chest.

Making it look more like a nighty, then an actual dress, and she was definitely wearing more makeup then usual too, accentuating her blue eyes with a glossy pink lip.

As Maddie leaned in to tell Alison that she didn’t think whatever Alison had planned was a good idea, her train of thought was cut off by the shrill voice of her half sister.

“How was your workout? I’m sure a man like you go at it hard” emphasizing the word ‘hard’ as she leaned in, making sure Richard had a full view of her cleavage.

“I don’t hold back” he responded grazing Maddie’s inner thigh as he spoke, sending chills up her spine.

“Why is my half sister here” Maddie asked shifting her leg away from Richard’s hand, as she leaned towards Alison.

“I’ll ask” Alison responded turning to ask to Jason.

A minute later she turned to Maddie and whispered “ apparently when the guys arrived, she was standing out front looking lost, saying we invited her?!?”

That made Maddie scrunch her nose in disbelief.

Alison turned her gaze and observed Bianca who was running her hand down Richard’s arm complimenting his ‘size’ while seductively batting her eyes.

“So the stranger she saw you with, whom she is supposedly stealing from you is Richard?” Alison asked confused.

“Oh, yeah duh, I guess it could have been Richard I met in the lobby earlier” Maddie said trying to act as clueless as possible.

“You guess?.. how do you not recognize a 250lbs giant covered in tattoos?” Alison asked looking at Maddie in disbelief.

“Oh you know, when I have my nose in my book, I seem to forget the world around me” Maddie said whimsically while internally hoping the earth would just swallow her whole.

Just then, Jason tapped Alison arm asking her what drink she wanted and Maddie breathes a sigh of relief, maybe having Jason preoccupying Alison tonight wasn’t such a bad idea, if it ment keeping Alison’s watchful gaze was away from Maddie.

Maddie ordered an Appeltini and as soon as it arrived she downed half of it and ordered a second before the waiter could run off, earning her a stern look from Alison.

“ what? If I have to spend an entire night with my sister, I need alcohol” Maddie said, downing the second half of her drink.

Alison looked thoughtful for a second, then nodded, and turned to talk to Jason again.

As Maddie’s second drink arrived along with their starters, she quietly observed the table.

Erica and Oliver were deep in conversation, looking like they were in their own little bubble.

Jason was whispering something to Alison, that made her blush but Maddie couldn’t hear what was being said.

Everyone seemed to have paired off while she was stuck third wheeling on a date with her half sister and her stalker.

Maddie chuckled, this was like some weird twilight zone s**t alright.

“Oh no, I think you cut yourself while working out” Bianca said in a concerned baby voice making Maddie want to vomit, but as Maddie raised her drink to her lips trying to hold the bile down, Richard responded “ oh yeah, I had a good sparing session today, they really put up a fight” making Maddie choke on her drink and cough uncontrollably.

“Are you okay?” Alison asked concerned

“I’m good, I just accidentally choked on it” Maddie coughed.

Alison turned her head to flag down a waiter when Richard’s voice sounded close to her ear “ You must be mistaken my love, I haven’t made you choke on it yet” making Maddie cough even harder, before being handed a glass of water and downing it.

“ I’m fine now” Maddie reassured Alison before turning back to her drink.

She glared at it, she needed something stronger if she was gonna survive the night.

And as a waiter came into view she ordered a double whiskey, no ice.

By the time the main course arrived, Maddie had a nice little buzz going, sadly it was hard to enjoy it with her sister’s Persistent flirting, two seats over.

“So how come l’ve never seen you in the city before” Bianca asked sucking the olive off the pick of her Martini while gazing into Richard’s eyes seductively, Which made Maddie rolled hers, this was becoming ridiculous.

“ I’ve been held up elsewhere for a bit” he responded, making Maddie snort, but quickly covering it up with a cough into her napkin “more like locked up” she whispered low enough for no one to hear.

“Oh how interesting, but I do hope you are planing on staying here?” Bianca asked pouting her lips.

“I am” he said giving Maddie’s thigh a reassuring squeeze, but Maddie slid his hand of her leg, while rolling her eyes.

“ are you okay?” Alison asked, she had been noticing The drop in Maddie’s mood.

“ oh I’m fine, who knew third wheeling would be that much fun” Maddie retorted sarcastically.

“ I’m sorry, I guess I have been giving Jason a lot of my attention tonight” Alison said apologetically.

Maddie hadn’t referred to Alison and Jason.

Truth be told, the words had just slipped out.

“ I’m sorry, please don’t let me ruin your night” Maddie said, not correcting Alison in her assumption that her and Jason was the cause of Maddie’s sour mood.

“So how come a man like you haven’t been snatched up yet” Bianca asked leaning back in her chair letting Richard see Just how short her dress was.

“Oh I don’t know” he responded with a light chuckle.

Now she made him chuckle? Maddie though, as she accidentally scoffed.

“WTF is wrong with you today” Alison asked looking at Maddie intently.

“Nothing” Maddie stated flatly, she really needed to pull herself together. As she turned she caught a glimpse of Jason’s amused face.

That SOB was probably mistaken her annoyance as jealousy, Maddie though, rolling her eyes, well, nothing could be further from the truth.

After dinner they went up to the bar, Maddie ordered another double whiskey, earning her a stern look from Alison.

But at this point, Maddie didn’t care, this night was a complete bust, so Maddie’s plan was now to get liquored up to the point that come morning, she wouldn’t be able to remember a thing.

While the others found a table, Maddie stayed at the bar, that way, she wouldn’t have to flag down a waiter every time she needed a refill, common sense right?

It definitely wasn’t because she was getting tired of looking at Bianca’s ugly face offering herself to Richard on a silver platter.

Well maybe it was true that she didn’t want to look at her ugly face, but the last part.. she could care less what he did or didn’t do with her sister.

Maybe if they did hook up, she would get him off her back.. so maybe it was a win/win situation?

Just then, Bianca’s shrill laughter coming towards her made the hairs at the back of her neck stand up.

“ oh he is so funny” Bianca laughed as she sat down next to her.

“What do you want”. Maddie retorted stirring the drink in her hand.

“Just to let you know that I won of course” Bianca stated matter of factly.

“ won what, there is no competition” Maddie responded rolling her eyes.

“Well you are certainly right about that!” Bianca said twirling her hair.

“Soo..?” Maddie asked praying to god that Bianca would just let her be.

“I just wanted you to know that I asked him to come up with me to my room at the end of the night, and he agreed” she stated triumphantly.

“Oh he did now” Maddie asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Yes, he is completely into me” she said in a song song voice, walking away towards the bathrooms.
