INKA Maggie and I moved deeper into the house, and the music became increasingly louder—a mix of rock and country that made the floor vibrate beneath my boots. We also saw more women laughing in groups, some dancing in the open great room that spilled out onto the courtyard, and others straddling the rolled-in bikes for display. I stayed close to Maggie as people turned to look at us with surprised and welcoming smiles on their faces.
