Adira’s POV
With a roar, Caspian moved ahead of me. "You refuse to touch her."
Seraphina grinned. "Oh, but I will."
A dark force flowed around her fingers as she raised her palm. The air became chilly and permeated with peril. My breath caught. There was an impending event. Something lethal.
"No!" It was too late as I sprang forward.
Seraphina made a wrist flick. Black flames erupted in Caspian's direction. He didn't have time to duck. The fire encircled him and penetrated his flesh. His body began to convulse as he gasped.
"Caspian!" I let out a yell.
His face contorted in agony as his legs gave way and he collapsed to the ground. His breathing became laboured.
