ALARIC’S POV
Even before I opened my eyes, I already felt the pain flood through my entire being—a pounding head, aching back, limbs and joints throbbing like hell itself.
My closed eyelids tightened further as I struggled to endure the pain coursing through every nerve.
I should have grown used to the pain after enduring it month after month since turning eighteen, yet sometimes it came with such brutal intensity that it dragged me back to the agony of the very first time.
I opened my eyes, staring at the ceiling for a few seconds, trying to piece together how I’d gotten back to my room. Was time up already?
