Somewhere deep in my sleep, I could hear the consistent sound of a thud… No, it was more of a thump, like that of a heartbeat, and it was followed by groans and punctuated moans.
I slowly aroused to the sound, the smell of antiseptic wafting into my nostrils causing a slight frown on my forehead.
My gaze roamed my surroundings, and I quickly realized I was lying in a ward in the infirmary.
