LEILA’S POV
After calling a much older child to take the little girl away, I moved closer to the window, rather than going outside to meet him.
Upon a closer inspection, I noticed he was dressed in all black, with a hood and a black mask that only exposed his bright burning blue eyes.
“I… Is it truly you?” I whispered, and his head c****d to the side.
“Pretty sure I told you to come meet me out here.”
A shiver ran down my spine. “It’s better this way. I’m trying not to raise suspicion,” I replied, looking eagerly behind my shoulders. “What are you doing here?”
I didn’t see it, but his eyes crinkled like he was smiling. “Of course I’m here to see my little spy when she went AWOL on me.”
“I was—”
“Save the explanation.” His burning eyes suddenly turned icy. “Where is
