LEILA’S POV
I woke up to the sound of his heart beating steadily in my ears, my cheeks pressed against his chest, my arm wrapped around his waist, feeling warm and safe.
I lay there, our legs tangled, staring at the clouds as I watched the sunrise. It was a beautiful sight, and just watching the sunrays slowly spill across the earth calmed something in me, but as my mind drifted back to last night, the sadness that came with it was instant.
I remembered feeling every joy and satisfaction from last night evaporate even as I fell into a deep sleep in his arms, and it seemed that those feelings never truly disappeared while I was unconscious… more like they waited till I was awake to resume their duties, making me feel miserable.
