Chapter 2

Scarlet pov It’s been 4 years since I was left an orphan, I’ve jumped from foster home to foster home, they always got rid of me when a younger child came along or they just got bored. When I turned 20 I was able to get my own home and I finished school and just got a job, it’s not the best job but it will pay the bills, I’m working behind the bar at a club called blacks bar in the city, not to far from my home. I’ve been seeing a therapist since that night, we were all just watching over the hedge when there was all these popping sounds and my mother fell down and blood was pooling form my father and little sister. I remember a pain in my shoulder and stomach, then darkeness, then waking up in a hospital room surrounded by doctors and police, all asking what happened but I had no idea, I was told my family were gone and that when I was healed I’d be going to stay with a family at the other side of town, I was moved school and everything, not seen my friend Jenifer in years, she had lost her mum a few years before my parents, I supported her like any friend would for those years till my parents died, I’ve not heard from her and she still has my number, I’ve not changed it. Tonight is my first shift at the bar, I’m nervous but excited to be getting to work. As I get ready I call a taxi to come pick me up so I’m not walking in the rain. As the taxi pulled up outside I was just grabbing my shoes, I finished getting ready and grabbed my purse locked my door and jumped into the taxi, when we arrived it looked so busy, I could see some vip members going in ahead of the line, I walked up to the really big bouncer who was atleast 6.6 I’m only 5.2 so I had to tilt my head to look at him, I told him I was new and he checked the staff list and let me in. As I got in all I could smell was alchol and sweat. I made my way to the offices through the crowds of people. When I made it there my new boss was waiting, he held me my uniform and showed me around the staff area then introduced me to the other bar staff before leaving me to my work, I started taking orders and pouring drinks, it got so busy and I was run off my feet but we got there, the boy I’m working with, he is so fast at making drinks it’s as if he’s done it all his life, his name is leonardo but said to call him Leo. Leo is really sweet but from what I tell, a real player with the women. As I was finishing an order I heard a Girl shout for a drink, I done the drinks bill, gave them there change and turned and there she was, Jenifer standing there with Jessica and Sarah, Jessica was always nice but Sarah was always a b***h, she picked on me daily till I moved. I walked up and took the order, she didn’t even recognise me, as I was almost done I heard Sarah’s squeaky voice call out “scarlet” I heard Jessica gasp and I turned around and looked at them, I chose to stand my ground and not look weak like I used to. Throughout the homes I’ve been in I’ve learned to defend my self and give some sass. “Yes” I said “Don’t you recognise us? I thought that was you, I see your not as fat anymore” “It’s called an ass Sarah not fat, now that’ll be £25.62” She paid the bill and said “your still as annoying as ever” and walked away Jessica left along with her drinks in hand, Jenifer still stood, “can I help you with something” I said “I can’t believe it’s you, I’ve missed you so much” she said “Missed me so much that u never called or tried to find out where I was? I was there for u through everything and my family died and u were nowhere for me” “Im sorry but I didn’t know if you’d have your phone, I tried asking the school but they weren’t aloud to tell me where u went, I tried everything to find you scar” “Whatever Jen, you could’ve just tried picking up your phone and calling me but you didn’t, and I’m not interested in this conversation anymore” and walked away to continue taking orders. Before I knew it was 2 am I called a taxi and we had just closed for the night, my taxi pulled up as we locked the doors, said goodnight to Leo and got in the taxi, I was dropped off and went straight in and fell asleep. Silas pov A few hours went by and we had a great night my sister and her friends were getting this round, Lucas had been the bar man, Sarah and Jessica came back, Sarah looked angry and Jessica seemed almost amused by it, before asking what was the problem I seen my sister chatting to the bar tender she seemed upset, the bartender though was gorgeous, blonde hair with a slight wave, a small button nose and freckles that covered her cheeks, she was small in height but thing with curves in all the right places, she was a goddess, I wonder how my sister knows her? When she came back she had tears in her eyes, no matter how gorgeous that woman is I won’t let her hurt my sister. I got up to go give her a piece of my mind when I felt a hand on mine, she was holding my hand, she said “don’t, it’s my fault, her family died in a terrible accident and she was sent away, i never contacted her, she’s hurt, and I understand why, she helped me through mum but I didn’t help her” I was shocked, she just let her friend be? she was so kind hearted it’s hard to believe, “why didn’t you help her” I asked. “Some police came to school and said her parents and sister had died in an accident and she was hospitalised, they said she’d be leaving to go to a foster family and that she’d have no personal effects like a phone. I tried finding out where but I couldn’t find out nobody would tell me her information” “so it’s not really your fault then Jen, did you explain this to her?” “I tried but she wouldn’t listen” “want me to deal with her” “no she’s fine she’ll cool off and I’ll try again” she said, I glanced at Sarah and seen her shooting glares at the girl, I finally asked “what’s wrong with you?” Sarah turned to me fold her arms and says “that b***h behind the bar, she was such a fat mess in school till she moved away, now she’s back and thinks she can talk to me she just did, no it’s not happening, she will learn!” I looked to Jen and Jessica, they tried not to laugh but in the end Jen laughed historically then said “she was never fat, you were just a b***h and flat with no b**bs or ass, and you were jealous, and you just don’t like someone telling you off, leave her alone or me and you will have issues” she said the last part with a slight more aggression, Sarah huffed and looked back at her behind the bar, I never found out her name. At the end of the night I see her clearing glasses, bent over a table, how I’d love to have her bent over a table in front of me so I can do so many things to her body to make her moan. I shook my head, I don’t even know her so these thoughts can be put away, for now. We got home and dad was sitting waiting up, none of us were drunk after everything with the bartender, I sat with my dad in the lounge while everyone picked a spare room, I asked my dad if he knew about Jen’s friend, he had no idea but a kind of hope was in his eyes, he called jen into the room and asked “what’s this friends name? I knew of a family that died and the eldest daughter went into foster care, I had tried to find her to help in anyway but couldn’t find her” she said “scarlet Whitlock” my dad froze and explained to us that the family home had been shot up like ours and she was the only survivor, I felt broken for her. Jen, looked like she could crumbe at any moment at the news of it not being an accident like she was told. I saw the guilt for her not being there for her friend.
