afterwordTHE DECADE of the eighties must have been a time of social awareness and activism, not just in the Philippines, but in the world. The band members and musicians I adored were very young then, mostly in their early twenties. Their words and their visions of better worlds, and the cynicism with regards to this one, stirred so many youthful hearts in this country, not just mine. As there were no lyric sheets at the time, I painstakingly wrote down the words of their songs (after several jabs at the pause, rewind, and play buttons on my cassette tape player), never realizing until much later how strangely and wonderfully they would correspond to particular events in my own backyard, hometown, and country.
