Chapter 7

1200 Words
Gia’s POV I pulled into the hospitals parking lot 30 mins late. I sit in my jeep confused and hurt. Alpha Nathan acted like he didn’t even care for me. My wolf and body were so sure he was our mate. “His body responded to us as well” Stella purred. That is true, I felt him hard against my core..but why did he just blow us off? I thought when mates met, assuming they accept each other, they are ready to mate right then and there. Does he not accept us? I text Greg to see if he’s free for lunch, knowing I’m a little early to my appointment. He texts back instantly “meet me in the food court in 10.” I’ve been here a few times, I was able to convince mama and pop it would be good for me to learn some medical things as well. Just to be safe in case anything did happen to me. Greg has never questioned why I am under such tight security. I think it has a lot to do with the fact behind my appearance in the pack after alpha Joel and Luna Nova declared their daughter to be living with her coven. Which I did. I stayed with my grandmother for two weeks. My parents came to me one day along with Uncle Benny and Aunt Lilly. They told me the story of how my father and aunt have a brother. He was the middle child, one day he snapped. Everyone in the pack believed he went rogue after being rejected by his mate. She sought power and Uncle Henry wouldn’t never be king. In all actuality my father had Henry sent to a mental hospital for the supernatural in England. The plans was to tell everyone that I had belonged to Henry, he couldn’t care for me and since Lilly and Benny had a one year old I was a good fit for them. They would raise me as their own. The only problem was that I had to be in disguise. I had to look the part of the royal family. My Grandmother and my mother created my necklace. Never to be taken off except for in my cabin. Only Valerie, Benny, Lilly, and my parents have seen my true identity. Well now Alpha Nathan, Blake, and DJ. Not even my half brother. I walk into the cafeteria and take a seat waiting for Greg. I pull out my phone and text Valerie. “Please be home when I get home” “Are you ok?” She responds almost immediately. “At the hospital for my check up now. Talk when I get back.” I feel tear swelling in my eyes. Val is my closest friend. She’s always been there for me. No one knows me better than her. “Why the long face?” Greg startles me, bringing food for the both of us. I put my phone back in my bag. “Just a long day, how is your day going here?” Greg lunches into a bunch of stories of patients. I pick at my food but I’m not too hungry. I can’t stop thinking about Nathan or today. Greg notices I’m not eating and ask about. I’ve always loved food. “Have you ever heard of a mate not feeling the mate bond?” I ask Greg looks confused and stops eating. “I have never heard of anything like that. I’ve heard of mates rejecting the other for whatever their reasoning might be but never of a mate not feeling the bond. Why do you ask?” He’s suspicious. Great. “No reason I’ve just been reading stories that’s all.” I smile and try to reassure him. “You ready for your check up? It appears Dr. Cain is going to be doing your check up today.” “Not you? What happened?” “Schedules overlapped and I had a surgery this morning.” Greg stands and grabs our trash. He walks me to my room making small talk. seeing how I don’t really know my way. He stops in front the room. “I’ll let them know you’re in here. Are we still on for the ball Saturday?” “Yes of course” it seems Nathan doesn’t want to be my date. Greg leans in to kiss my cheek. Just as he makes contact Stella growls so loudly in my head making me yell in pain. I hold my head. Greg looking concerned ask if I’m ok. I nod and enter the room closing the door behind me. Stella has never acted like that before. Greg and I have been intimate a hand full of times, it’s been about two months since the last time. I know she’s never really liked him but she’s never responded like that before. “What is the matter with you?” “He’s not our mate.” “ Our mate doesn’t want us!” “He does, I can feel him” She can feel him? What does that mean? Just as I’m about to ask a man comes in. He’s tall probably 6’4. He’s built like a fighter and not a doctor. Blonde hair and brown eyes. He’s kind, I can sense that. I can also sense he’s a werewolf. “Hello miss Shaw.” “Call me Gia please.” “Gia, I hear you’ve been having migraines?” “Well honestly Dr. Cain, I know you are a werewolf, until today actually I’ve only had slight headache after nightmares. Today my wolf has been given me the worst migraines.” “Your wolf is given you migraines?” He seems concerned “Yes, it’s like she’s fighting me.” “Typically that only happens in rare occasions. I want you to document every time it happens and what you are doing when it happens. If you feel it’s getting worse call me immediately.” He hands me his business card. “That is my direct line. I want to see you again in a week and we will discuss more then.” He shakes my hand and walks out. I gather my bag and text Greg my appointment is over and I’ll see him later. I make my way out of the hospital and to my Jeep. I gps the pack territory and head down the highway. Thankfully it’s an easy drive. My head too clouded from the days events. I pull up to the gate and am let in right away. I head to the cabin. Thankful to see Val is home but Mama and pops aren’t yet. I grab my bag and run inside, dropping my stuff on the counter in the kitchen, I take my necklace off and head to my room placing it in the draw beside my bed. I yell for Val. She comes running in and as soon as I see her I’m a blubbering mess. “What is wrong with you??” She says holding me “I think I found my mate” She takes me out at arms length and stares “Excuse me?”
