Blake settled into the car that was taking him back to the house and picked up his phone to talk to Stacy. It was after five already. He couldn't return to New York that day again. One of his business buddies, Mat, had called him up in the afternoon to find out if he was still in town. When he said yes, Mat told him he wanted him to meet someone for a late lunch later in the day.
“Hey, dear,” she answered the call. “Hey dear,” she answered.
He asked about her well-being and that of Jayce. Stacy was too impatient to talk to him for too long. She said she was getting ready to go out with her friends for drinks.
He slumped back on the seat, “okay, okay. I will call you later then.”
“Yeah, talk to you later,” she said to end the call, and she dropped the phone on the nightstand.
