Running

BEKI P.O.V There was no mistaking that voice it was Gruthbert the masters most loyal servant . I cant belive they have found me I thought I hid so well . slipping out quietly from behind my tree I sneak down towards the stream again hoping if I can get there the water will mask my scent Once there I run and run in the water it feels like I've been running for hours I feel my legs starting to give way beneath me I was running on pure adrenaline not yet having gathered anything to eat this morning little did I notice that the stream had just got alot wider and deeper . suddenly the current of the water swept my legs from underneath me as I started to panic I could feel myself blacking out *********Flash back************* sitting alone in my cell I was cold and in pain the master had just taken his frustration of losing another slave out on me my eyes were puffy from crying and red and purple welts were all over my torso and legs from where the whips hit . i said to myself then I must get out before I died here I was only 5 when I was brought to this place no recollection on my life before here . sitting and watching and waiting I finally found my opportunity the lazy guard hadn't fully bolted my cell before going on the shift change . silently I struggled to get the rest of the Bolt free . finally it slides down with a huge clunk I just hope no-one heard that my heart racing looking around for any sines of guards I slowly crept from my cell as I approached the central room I was relieved to find the guard on duty slumped over a beer cleary to intoxicated to pay attention I quickly hastened my pace making it to the outside area . staying in the shadows I could see the perimeter fence if I can make it off the premises I have a shot I thought to myself I looked round and saw nobody around so I ran as fast as I could I made it to the perimeter fence just as the alarm sounded to alert the guards to my escape I knew I couldn't stop now so I ran faster than I'd ever run before and didn't look back . I made it to the local town completely drained but knew I couldn't stop the men came by here to frequently for supplies they would surely find me I needed to find another means of transport and fast I couldn't carry on running . I made my way through the town hoping to find a bike or anything (I didn't like the idea of stealing but kept saying to myself I'd only be borrowing it and surely the owner would understand if they knew my predicament) After about 3 blocks my luck was in I found a unchained push bike against the side of a local shop I hastened to get it and cycled as fast as I could out of town hoping and praying the owner would forgive me some day . I had made it out of the town but I still carried on going I hadn't realised how far I'd come till I saw the forest approaching I dropped the bike there just at the side of the road and hastened on foot into the forest knowing the bike won't be much help there . completely drained of energy I carried on deeper and deeper into the forest knowing that I couldn't stop . I knew the master had some of the best trackers ever I needed to get as far away as I possibly could . it was getting colder by the minute and as the forest got denser it was also getting alot darker but still I carried on I was hopeful now I was deep enough could avoid detection for atleast a few days while I removed some energy so started to look for some sort of shelter as I was walking I soon came to a small clearing and there I saw it a small very run down shack clearly a old logging cabin that had been long since forgotten the door was practically over grown with ivy I wrenched it open and was greeted with a massive cloud of dust choking slightly I made my way inside to find a small very tattered mattress and blanket and without a second thought collapsed into it as a cloud of dust bellowed into the air . THREE DAY AFTER THE ESCAPE It's been three days since I escaped . I have barely left the shack only walking the nearby perimeter to find food and fire wood I had been lucky the shack had once been well made before it was forgotten so had a small wood burner in stove that I could make food and have some heat . and also the remains of books the of the loggers observations around the area these contained some amazing details of edible plants and berries that grew around the hut . I new I should leave and keep running I have no idea how close the master could be there is no way I'm going back but for some unknown reason I couldn't bring myself to leave It was like I was drawn to this place .
