"Ree..." "Ree..." Rhea groaned, burying her face deeper into her pillow. "What-" she snapped, voice rough with sleep. "What?!" "Watch this video." "Girl, I hate being dragged out of sleep like this," she mumbled. "If it's not food or money, let me be." "Common sit up watch it" she shook her "Evelyn I swear if-" "You're trending." That got her. Rhea cracked one eye open slowly. Evelyn sat at the edge of her bed, phone in hand, way too calm for someone who just woke a demon. "I'm always trending," Rhea said, stretching lazily. "Please, I am the trend." Evelyn tilted her head. "For illegal reasons?" Rhea shrugged. "Wouldn't be the first time." "Ree-" "No. No, don't start," she cut in, sitting up, rubbing her eyes as her head throbbed. "Not this early. I'm not emotionally available for one of your 'change your life speech'." Evelyn didn't respond. She just turned the phone toward her. Silence. Only the sound of the video playing. Music. Laughter. Chaos. Rhea leaned over slightly, squinting at the screen. Then- She smiled. Evelyn sighed. But there was a small laugh in it. "How did you guys even get up there?" she asked. Rhea stretched again, completely unbothered. "Girl... you don't wanna know." Evelyn shook her head, standing up. "I like that you're having fun," she said gently. "But Dad can't see this." Rhea snorted. "Who cares if he does?" "Rhea-" "What?" she shrugged. "I'm not worried so you shouldn't be" Evelyn gave her that look. The one that said you're being impossible. Rhea smiled sweetly. The kind of sweet that meant trouble. "You woke me up, stressed me out, deprived me of my beauty sleep," she said, counting on her fingers. "And now you're leaving?" Evelyn laughed. "Go shower," she said instead, heading for the door. Rhea flopped back onto the bed dramatically. "She wakes me up, lectures me, ruins my sleep and leaves," she muttered. "How is she the perfect one?" She shook her head-still smiling. 🖤 By the time she came downstairs- The house smelled good. Breakfast was already set. Evelyn sat neatly at the table. Of course. Her stepmother moved around, serving breakfast like a scene from a perfect family commercial. "Good morning, Rhea," she said warmly. Rhea walked past her clearly ignoring her like thse words didn't exist. "What's for breakfast?" A pause. Then her stepmother sighed softly-but still smiled. "Pancakes, eggs, sausages and fresh juice, " she said. "Sit, I'll serve you." Rhea dropped into her chair, already scrolling through her phone, giggling at something on the screen. "Check this out," she said, turning the phone to Evelyn. Evelyn leaned in slightly and smiled. "You know-" her stepmother started, placing a dish down, "your dad wouldn't like you being on your phone at the table-" "Excuse me?" Rhea cut in sharply. "I'm just saying-" "Don't," Rhea snapped. "You're not in the position to tell me what I can or cannot do." Her stepmother went quiet. "-Yes, Mr. Rogers, I-" Her father's voice cut in as he walked in, phone pressed to his ear. "I understand... yes... I'll handle it." He ended the call abruptly. His expression? Dark. Dropped the phone onto the table. His jaw was tight. Without a word- He walked out. Her stepmother followed immediately. Evelyn hesitated- Then stood too. Rhea sighed loudly. "So we're really doing this?...now??" She stood, dragging her feet toward the living room. 🖤 "What's wrong?" her stepmother asked carefully. Her father didn't answer. He grabbed the remote. Turned on the TV. "What's wrong," he said coldly, "is her." He pointed at Rhea. "This girl is trying to destroy everything I've built." Rhea raised a brow. "Wow. Good morning speech." "Watch," he snapped. The news played. "The trending video of a group identified as The No Saints-also known as TNS-has surfaced and raised serious concerns..." Rhea's attention snapped. Clips flashed. Laughter. Chaos. Climbing. Breaking rules. "...vandalizing government properties, engaging in reckless behavior, and disturbing public order and other illegal activities..." Wow. "Authorities have identified several individuals involved-most from influential families-" Then- Her face. "...including Rhea Norman, daughter of respected political figure Travis Norman..." Silence. "...sources report her involvement with questionable individuals, including a known ex-convict..." Rhea blinked. "...raising suggestions and concerns about how such behavior could impact Mr. Norman's position..." The TV muted. Silence filled the room. "Rhea," her stepmother said softly. "What do you have to say for yourself?" "Wow," She smiled."I made headline news?" "What is wrong with you?!" her father snapped. "Nothing," she shrugged. "Just living. You should try it sometime." She nodded. "Drinking? Breaking laws? Getting involved with criminals?!" "That's my boyfriend," she said casually. "You're dating a criminal?" he demanded. "Ex-criminal," she corrected. "Let's be accurate." "I kept overheating your mother talk about some Kai boy," he shook his head in disbelief. "So...so he's an ex-confict? A criminal?! A-" "First of all," Rhea snapped, turning sharply, "she is not my mother. Stop calling her that." A pause. Heavy. "And second," she continued, eyes blazing, "you don't get to tell me who I date. I could date a murderer if I wanted to." "Rhea!" "What?" she shot back. "At least I'd be honest about it." "Look at your sister-" her father started. "Dad-" Evelyn said softly. But Rhea laughed. "No. No, let him," she said. "Everyone always wants to compare me to her." Her voice turned sharp. "Perfect Evelyn. Perfect daughter. Perfect life." She stepped forward slightly. "Then focus on her," she snapped. "Leave me out of your expectations." Her father's voice dropped. "This is not just about you anymore." There it was. "It's about my name. My reputation. It's about you destroying everything I've built." Rhea froze for a second. Then- She laughed. "Exactly," she said. "That's all you care about." "That's not-" "You don't care about me. You care about what I look like to people, what people would say about you" A beat. "Maybe if you actually acted like my father instead of a politician," she added quietly, "maybe I wouldn't be such a problem." That hit...hard. "Rhea i-" "I'm done with this." She grabbed her jacket. Turned. Walked out. "Rhea-wait-!" "Honey, why- Rhea! Rhea!" her stepmother called, rushing after her. But- Too late. SLAM. The door shut in her face. Silence filled the house. Heavy. Uncomfortable. Their father stood there, chest rising and falling, anger still lingering-but something else creeping in. Regret. "You shouldn't have said that," she murmured softly. He ran a hand over his face, frustrated. "She's getting out of control," he muttered. "I just... I had to." But even he didn't sound convinced. "I'll-I'll call her," Evelyn said quietly, already turning away. He looked at her then. "I didn't mean to shout at her like that," he added, his voice lower now. "But she doesn't listen. She never listens." Evelyn gave a small nod. "It's okay, Dad." He exhaled. Tired. "You're the only one she talks to in this house," he said. "Maybe she'll listen to you." A small pause. Evelyn swallowed. "I'll try." Her voice was soft-but there was something fragile beneath it. She turned and walked upstairs slowly. 🖤 Outside 🖤 "Ma'am, where are you hea-" "Give me the keys." "Ma'am-" "Give. Me. The keys." He hesitated. She snatched them. Pished him aside. Got in. "Freaking people telling me what to do," she muttered, slamming the door. And sped drove off. 🖤 The lounge was already alive. "Hey-what's up?" Luca called. "Nothing," she said, walking in. "Riri!" Sienna grinned. "You guys saw the news?" Rhea asked. Silence. "The news?" Nyla scoffed. "Who even watches that?" "For real," Damon added lazily. "What are we, fifty?" Rhea blinked. "We were on it." Silence. "What?" Aria froze. "Yeah." A beat. Then- "YO-TNS ON THE HEADLINES?!" Zayn shouted. They erupted. Celebrating. The room exploded. Rhea blinked. "You guys are celebrating?" "Obviously!" Nyla grinned. "We're famous!" "...we were called criminals," Rhea said slowly. "So?? We made headline news!!" Sienna added "They threatened my dad's position," she snapped. "And called Kai an ex-convict." she added quietly. "...I mean," Nyla shrugged, "they're not wrong." "Nyla!" "No, seriously," Aria added, raising a brow. "I don't know what you see in that guy. He's a walking red flag." "Aria..." Rhea warned. She raised her hands. "Okay, okay, I'll shut up." Silence. Then Zayn clapped. "Alright, enough feelings," he said. "We're on the news. That deserves a celebration." Cheers erupted again. And Rhea? She laughed. Because somehow- In the middle of everything falling apart- They still made her feel okay. And she loved them for that. She laughed rushing out with them.
