Chapter one:

Rhea Norman was a problem. She was not the kind you warned once She was the kind you warned over and over again- and she still smile and do it anyway. She was loud about it. Unapologetic. Uncontained. And lived like consequences didn't exist. The bass of the music pulsed through her veins like a second heartbeat as she moved through the crowd, laughter spilling from her lips like she didn't have a care in the world. Lights flashed. Bodies collided. Glasses clinked. And right in the center of it all- Rhea. A drink in her hand. A smirk on her lips. Control slipping through her fingers like it always did... and she loved it. "Rhea!" someone called. She turned, already smiling, already moving-like the night belonged to her. Because it did. Every night did. She lived fast. Shopped like money didn't matter. Dressed like attention was currency. Talked like rules were optional. And love? Rhea didn't do love. She did moments. Thrills. Temporary highs. Nothing that stayed long enough to hurt. "Another one?" a guy asked, sliding closer. Rhea tilted her head, eyeing him for a second before taking the drink anyway. "Why not?" she said lightly. That was always her answer. Why not? But that night- That exact night- Everything shifted. She felt it before she saw him. A presence. Heavy. Still. Wrong for a place like this. Rhea turned. And then- She saw him. He wasn't dancing. Wasn't laughing. Didn't even look like he belonged there. But somehow... He owned the room more than anyone else. Kai. Dark eyes. Sharp jaw. That effortless, dangerous kind of attractive that didn't try-but didn't need to. He stood there like chaos. Like the noise, the lights, the people- None of it mattered. But his eyes? They were on her. Not casually. Not briefly. But like he had already decided something. Rhea felt it. That unfamiliar flicker in her chest. Interest. Curiosity. Something... different. She smiled. Slow. Challenging. And just like that- The game began. Kai moved first. "Rhea?" his voice was smooth. Certain. She raised a brow. "Depends. Who's asking?" A smirk tugged at his lips. "Kai." That was it. No last name. No explanation. Just Kai. And somehow... It was enough. From that moment- It was effortless. That was how it all started. Like they had known each other before that night. Like the universe had just been waiting to put them in the same room. Late nights turned into early mornings. Drives with no destination. Laughter that didn't stop. Kisses that didn't mean to-but did. With Kai, Rhea didn't feel reckless. She felt right. Like she had finally found someone who matched her chaos... Instead of trying to control it. And that? That was dangerous. Because Rhea Norman didn't fall. But for Kai- She didn't even realize when she did. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* It was another reckless night. The No Saints were out again-like sleep was just a rumor they all agreed to ignore. The music was too loud. The air too heavy. The night too alive. Aria and Sienna were dancing like they owned the floor, lost in rhythm, lost in everything. Nyla was screaming the lyrics at the top of her lungs, completely off-beat and proud of it. Zayn and Damon were arguing again-no one knew the topic, not even them, but it sounded serious enough to start a war. Luca was halfway gone, drinking like tomorrow wasn't coming. Asher leaned against the bar, smiling at anyone who looked his way like flirting was breathing. And Rhea- Rhea was laughing with the bartender. Carefree. Untouchable. Then- Arms wrapped around her waist. "Baby." Low. Rough. Familiar. Her smile appeared before she even turned. Kai. He came. He pulled her back into him instantly-like gravity had just decided she belonged there and only there. His hand tightened slightly at her waist. "Why are you talking to him?" he murmured against her ear. Rhea glanced at the forgotten bartender. She shrugged. "Relax," she said lightly. "We were just talking." "I'm happy you came!" "Took you long enough," he said, eyes on her. "Miss me?" "You wish," she shot back. He smirked. "I know." And just like that- something in her softened. Her smile returned. "Yeah?" That was all it took. He kissed her. And she kissed him back like she had been waiting for it all night. Messy. Hungry. Too familiar to be innocent. His hands were everywhere-her waist, her back-pulling her closer like distance insulted him. Like letting go was not an option he believed in. It was never gentle with Kai. It was always too much. Too fast Too deep. Like he didn't kiss her-he claimed the moment she stood in. And Rhea? She never stopped him. Not once. Not ever. If anything she loved it. Until- Something flew through the air. SMACK. Right into them. They broke apart instantly. Aria stood a few steps away, unimpressed, arms crossed. "What the hell was that?" she snapped. Nyla laughed somewhere behind her. "Do you guys always have to do that?" Aria added, disgusted. Kai didn't even look bothered. He just pulled Rhea back against him again like the interruption never existed. "Of course," he said calmly. "Why wouldn't I? She's my boo." Aria stared at him. Then at Rhea. Then shook her head. "It was already bad enough that you invited him" she muttered. Luca checked his watch, already bored. "It's 12:48. Let's move." Rhea immediately lit up. "Where to next?" Zayn tossed the keys to Luca without looking up. "Shanks." That alone was enough. "Yesss!" Sienna cheered. Chaos shifted. Energy spiked. Nothing was over. They grabbed their things, their unfinished drinks, their bad decisions, and spilled out like a storm that never learned how to calm down. It was already bad enough that Luca-who was driving-was clearly drunk. But in that car... nobody cared. The cars roared awake. Music blasted-too loud to be legal. Windows down. Laughter everywhere. Speed without fear. And just like that- They disappeared into the night again. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* ðŸĨ€ 2:15 a.m. The house was quiet when Rhea walked in. Her heels came off immediately-kicked across the floor. Her jacket followed. "Rhea." She didn't look up. Evelyn. Sitting neatly in the living room. Waiting. Of course. "You're late," Evelyn said softly. Rhea smirked, dropping onto the couch. "I'm early compared to usual." Evelyn sighed-but still stood, picking up her shoes, folding her jacket like she always did. "You shouldn't keep doing this," she said gently. "And you should stop waiting up for me," Rhea shot back. "But here we are." Silence. Then- Evelyn smiled faintly. "You had fun?" Rhea paused. Just for a second. Then she shrugged. "Obviously." That was their thing. They talked. They laughed. But never about her life. "I'm going upstairs," Evelyn said. "Try not to wake-" "-Mum?" Rhea smirked. "No promises." And she meant it. She didn't walk upstairs. She stomped. Loud. On purpose. "Rhea." She rolled her eyes immediately. Her stepmother stood in the hallway. Waiting. Of course. "You're home late." Rhea didn't even slow down. "Hmm. Goodnight to you too." "Rhea, you shouldn't be doing this." She let out a dry laugh. "You really know how to start a conversation." "You were out again with those people." "Friends," Rhea corrected sharply. "They are not your friends they-" "And you would know? You don't even know me." Her stepmother inhaled slowly. "it was bad enough that you're out late but then with that boy-Kai?" Rhea stopped. Turned. Eyes cold now. "You don't get to talk about him." "I'm trying to help you." "I didn't ask for your help." "You're ruining your life-" "Oh my God," Rhea cut in, laughing. "Do you ever get tired of hearing yourself talk?" "Your sister has been up waiting for you and-" Of course. Rhea clapped slowly. "Wow. Took you long enough to bring up Miss Perfect." "I'm serious-" "No, you're obsessed," Rhea snapped. "With her. With me. With trying to fix something that isn't broken." "Rhea-" "No, listen," she stepped closer, voice sharp, cutting. "You walk around acting like some saint who saved this family, like you belong here more than I do." Her stepmother froze. "But you don't," Rhea continued, eyes cold. "You're just someone my dad married and tried force into my life." Silence. Then- A door opened. "Oh, look who finally decided to come home." Her father. Rhea stiffened-just slightly. Shoot! He's back? She didn't know he was there. He stepped forward slowly, unimpressed. "The queen of the night returns." Rhea rolled her eyes. "Good morning to you too." "Do you know what time it is?" he snapped. "Dad, I-" "No no" her stepmother added quickly. "I was trying to-" "Honey, stop," he cut her off. "You always try to cover for her." "Yeah... honey," Rhea mocked under her breath. "Rhea!" he snapped. "What?" she shot back. "No one called her into this. She always wants to insert herself like she matters." "Rheah!" He shot! "What?! Don't Rhea me" "See?" he turned to his wife. "See who you're defending?" "Again, I didn't ask for her help," Rhea added coldly. "Why are you like this?" her father demanded. "She's been nothing but good to you and you treat her like this?" Rhea laughed. A sharp, humorless sound. "Good to me?" she repeated. Then her voice dropped. "You mean replacing my mother and acting like I should be grateful?" Silence. Heavy. "You walked a stranger into this house and expected me to call her family," Rhea continued, eyes burning now. "And now you're shocked I don't play along?" "Rhea-" "No," she cut him off. "You don't get to question when I changed." Her gaze hardened. "I didn't change." A beat. "I just stopped pretending." Silence filled the house. Then- She turned. Walked away. And slammed her door shut. There.
