A weird tingling sensation spread through my body, like I was being electrified from the inside out. My muscles seized up as the energy field Evelyn had hit me with took hold.
Just as suddenly as the paralyzing force washed over me, it vanished - but not before giving the impression of sinking through the ground itself! I barely had time to catch my breath before realizing I was now inside some kind of underground bunker area.
"Wha...what's happening?" I managed to croak out, still reeling from the dizzying sensations. "Where are we?"
"Safe house evacuation chamber, twenty meters below the surface," Evelyn's terse voice replied. She emerged into the dimly lit space along with the handful of bodyguards still mobile after the cyborg ambush. "At least for the next few minutes."
