Once upon a time. In a faraway kingdom, lived a beautiful princess with a melodious and golden voice. Her name is Princess Tiana. She was the only daughter of King Albert & Queen Sophia and they loved her so much. They tried to be the best parents for the princess and nurtured her with love and kindness. And so the princess grew up to be kind and gentle. She was loved by the people of the kingdom.
But the king and queen are so protective that they did not allow Princess Tiana to go out of the castle's gate. She could only roam around the castle and the castle's garden, but beyond that, she was locked inside by the castle wall. She tried many times to escape but guards always caught her.
King Albert: My daughter, a good leader, is a good follower. How can people follow you if you do not follow the rules?
Princess Tiana: But Father! How can I be a good ruler if I don't have any idea of what's outside?!
Queen Sophia: We are doing this for your own good. Please understand that we only want the best for you.
The princess would just nod her head and follow.
While alone in her room, the princess walks out of the balcony and sees the beautiful kingdom.
Princess Tiana: How I wish I could go to places.............. I need to explore!
The princess sighed and sat on the chair located on the balcony.
Princess Tiana: This life is a bore.....I need to explore!
Princess Tiana sang
How can a bird fly without someone catching it?
How can wind blow without someone seeing it?
Why can't life be equal?
You think I have everything, but it was just a showoff.
Inside I'm like a treasure locked in a treasure chest,
Wonder what's outside
Wonder what's ...............
I wonder what's outside of those walls.
I wonder what's out there.
I wonder
One day, a dragon devastated the kingdom.
Farmer 1: Sire, a dragon who breathes fire, tries to burn our village. In the coldness of the night, the sound of huge wings and heavy footsteps woke us. We throw stones and spears at the creature but it only gets angry and breathes fire into our rice field and houses.
Civilian Women: We took what we could and ran as fast as we could to get away from the beast.
Farmer 2: The beast flew to the northern part of the Kingdom.
King Albert: Bring the people to a safe land and gather our soldiers.
He called General Ava and ordered him to get ready for the attack.
The northern part is an isolated place because the people of the kingdom don't go there. There are wild beasts, meat-eating plants, poisonous snakes, and cliffs that can kill ordinary people.
King Albert: I ordered you, General Ava, to kill the dragon
General Ava called his soldiers and ordered them to prepare for the attack.
The soldiers marched into the northern part of the kingdom. But the path to the dragon's lair is not easy. Some of the soldiers were killed by wild beasts such as tigers and anacondas. Some of them fell onto a cliff and some were eaten by a meat-eating plant.
General Ava's Troupe came into the place with only a few in numbers. Suddenly, they heard the sound of a goat. So the troupe went into hiding and tried to get a clear view.
They saw the gigantic dragon eating a goat. Big and scary, the soldiers were terrified of starting an attack.
General Ava grabbed a bow with an arrow and pointed his target at the dragon’s chest.
Blast! The dragon was hit by the arrow and the soldiers launched their attacks. But the dragon was eating and moving his body, so the arrow went to its right shoulder instead. Soldiers attacked the dragon with swords, daggers, and spears.
Since the dragon’s skin is thick, it managed to escape even with bruises and an arrow shot in its shoulder. Some soldiers tried to throw chains to disable the movement of the dragon but they failed. It is so strong that even chains get broken. It flew into the air and hid in the clouds. The attack was a failure.
General Ava's troupe went back to the castle and informed the king about the dragon.
General Ava: My king the dragon is too strong. We failed to kill it.
The king felt bad about General Ava's troupe.
King Albert: You have done your best. For now, let us prepare for the dragon's revenge.
Princess Tiana came with a worried look at General Ava's wounds. The princess had this feeling for him but kept it inside. She knew her obligation was to marry royalty in order to keep the connection of the kingdom and to develop a bond with an allied force for the safety of their people.
Princess Tiana: Let me help you, general. I can take care of those wounds.
Queen Sophia: We have skilled healers to aid his wound and that is their DUTY!
The princess heard of the word DUTY, so she went back to her room, accepting her fate as royalty.
Queen Sophia knew about her daughter's feelings. The princess cannot hide it from her mother, who loves her dearly.
But the queen is even more worried about the dragon's attack. She knew that this might put her daughter's life in danger, so the Queen made a decision.
Queen Sophia went to Princess Tiana’s room and showed her bracelet made of gold with diamond.
Queen Sophia: My dearest daughter, this bracelet was given to me by your grandmother. It was a magical bracelet and it can protect you from any harm. Giving this to you would end my life.
Princess Tiana: Mother, I don’t need this! Please! Keep it for yourself.
Queen Sophia: I have lived long enough and I think it's time to pass this on to you. You have a duty to your people and this bracelet will help you.
The Queen locked the bracelet to Princess Tiana's wrist.
Princess Tiana tried to remove the bracelet while watching her mother become ashes.
King Albert was sad to hear the news and refused to speak with anyone in the kingdom. He stayed in his room.
One night, Princess Tiana sang a beautiful song on the terrace. She wanted to express her grief at losing her mother. It was a beautiful song that the people and even soldiers who could hear her voice fell asleep.
Suddenly, the wind blew. Up above the clouds where the moon was shining bright, the creature appeared and flew toward the Princess. The King, who was locked inside the room, wondered why his daughter stopped singing. He rushed onto the terrace where his daughter was singing and saw the flying dragon grabbing his daughter and flying into the sky. The princess lost consciousness while the dragon was flying away from the castle. It hides in the clouds and is nowhere to be found.
