Andrea’s POV
‘M-m-y parents did what?’ I stuttered to Louis.
‘Yes, the Alpha and Luna want to see you in the office. Come now’ he replied walking away.
I sponged away the rest of the soot of the man who I did not recognise, or perhaps that was the shock? I couldn’t breathe as I was led to the office. Louis gripped my shoulder and immediately I felt comforted, for which I was grateful for.
We got to the office door and my hand is shaking so much that Louis noticed it so he opened the door for me.
‘Are you coming in with me?’ I asked nervously. My anxiety rising by the second. For the first time in my life, I felt vulnerable, instead of the independent woman I had become.
‘Yes, this is the packs business and this is a serious crime committed on our land’ he whispered to me.
I walked into the office and sat in a comfy armchair. I had never been in the office before. This is where pack business is discussed, made or lost. I looked around it had some large yukka trees by the desk, one wall was covered in shelves that was filled with books. There was a coffee table by two arm chairs and an enormous desk which the Luna and the Alpha occupied. Louis sat down in the other armchair.
‘Do you know why you are here Andrea?’ Alpha Robin asked me. His face held a stoney expression. The Luna was fiddling with her hands, looking uncomfortable, she gave me a reassuring smile.
‘I was told that my parents started a fire but I don’t know the details, I only know what Louis has told me’
‘When was the last time you saw your parents?’ He questioned me.
‘This morning they were asleep on the sofa bed, they didn’t stir from their positions, I made brothers breakfast and then they went to school and then I went to school. They were still asleep when I left’ I answered him. My hands playing with the sleeves on my sweater.
‘Your parents have been seen on our CCTV cameras with gasoline cans going into the pack house and setting a floor on fire. A person unfortunately has lost their life, Andrea. It’s very serious’ he rubbed his face, wiping away tears.
I started to cry, why would my parents do this? I knew there were problems, they weren’t parents to us. I couldn’t remember a time when they would cook for us dinner or ask how our days were. They just slept and drank. What would happen to us?
‘We know you and your siblings were not involved in this Andrea’ The Alpha reassured me. He gave me a small smile and handed some tissues to Louis to give to me.
I blew my nose. I didn’t care what I looked like at that moment. I mourned for the parents who I should have had and deserved.
‘I want to apologise to you Andrea. We did not know how you and your siblings were being treated that you were being neglected and mistreated. I’m truly sorry, I have failed you and your brothers’ he said apologetically.
I looked over in surprise, why was I being treated this way? I should be kicked out of the pack because of what my parents did.
‘The pack is huge, it’s impossible to know what is going on in each household’ I couldn’t tell him the worst of what we had been through.
‘I know about the silver, Andrea’ he whispered.
The Luna gasped and cried. Louis looked furious, his eyes kept shifting to black then back to his blue eyes. His fists were clenched and he gritted his teeth. I was scared he was going to shift.
‘Please lift up your sweater and show us’ the Alina whispered sympathetically.
I stood up and turned around. I lifted up my sweater and showed them the scars that the silver had made.
‘It was my fault, Alpha and Luna. I didn’t do dinner correctly, the twins were being naughty and kept crying. I deserved it’ I sniffed.
‘No one deserves this’ the Luna replied.
She walked round to where I stood. She put her arm around me and I cried on her shoulder.
‘It’s over now sweetie’ she whispered as she hugged me.
‘What happens to them now? And us?’ I said as I pulled away from the Luna and sat back down.
‘They have turned rogue. We suspect they were working for the rogue king. They did not like our packs unity with other packs. Our warriors are out there looking for them’ he cleared his throat. ‘You and your brothers will stay in the pack house until you find a mate or want to move on. You will still have to work in the evenings but not so many hours as payback for the damage caused’ he said to me softly.
I nodded and replied ‘I wont ever find a mate, I want to be alone after what my parents have done. It is for the best’
Suddenly Louis stood up and growled, which made me flinch. He walked out and slammed the door. Was he mad because I would not be punished?
