He was led away from the sea of bodies. His eyes roamed around the dark room. The red made his eyes water and each shadow that flickered across his vision morphed into something else. A hand. A face. He had to take second glances just to make sure he wasn’t losing his mind. As he walked around one man, he heard a moan from the pile. Ryan looked down. The man was curled in on himself, arms clutching his shoulders, and his naked feet scrunched as close as they could to one another. His body shook, the moans falling from his lips. They were prayers no one else could decipher. Ryan recognized the pain on the man’s face. He was crashing.
