Chapter 9 - Me & my best friend

Faye stayed inside. I said the truth to her that Niran was my best friend.

Faye receives a text message from her brother. He wanted to meet her.

After a few minutes, I went outside my apartment. Niran was waiting. We walked and found place with privacy.

"Are you in a relationship with Faye?" Niran asked with curiosity.

I don't how to answer.

"You see what you see."

"But why? You are not like me. I've known you for years. You are not like that. Are you doing this because of me and Kiet?!"

"Of course not! I didn't even know that Kiet was her brother!"

"Don't you ever tell this thing to Kiet."

"Why not?" Niran asked.

"Because Faye wanted to hide our relationship to her family. I also don't want Kiet to know."

"How long did you have relationship? Are you serious about it?"

"Just now. I met Faye since I saw you and Kiet in condo."

"Think about it first. It's not an easy thing to be in relationship like me." Niran said worriedly.

"Is it the reason why you also hide from me, from his family?"

"Yes. His family will never accept and understand our feelings."

I felt sad for Niran. Somehow, I understand him. I am now in his shoe. We are now in the same situation. Niran is like a brother to me.

"I’m so sorry Yoko. We didn't plan everything. When we were in his birthday Party, we didn't plan to introduce you as his girlfriend. He was pressured by his mom to met his girlfriend. She thought that it was you since we are at the same table that's why he introduced you."

"Why did he court me when you two are in relationship?"

"We were in misunderstanding that time. We broke up that night."

"What?! Because of me?"

"Yes, we broke up. I got angry and jealous when he introduces you to her mom. I didn't know that he continued courting you then. Maybe he is also confused on what to do."

"But I saw you two in condo!"

"A night before you see us, we accidentally met in Bar. Then something happened to us."

"Do you still love each other?"

"Yes, we still love each other. I never stopped loving him."

15 Years Ago:

"Sister Ize!" I am waiving my sister. She's talking to a tall man. I walked towards them. He's handsome! I held my sister's hand.

"Is he your boyfriend?" Both faced me. They laughed! I pouted.

The man sat in front of me. He messed up my hair.

"Hello little girl. Don't worry she's not my type." He winked.

I avoided his hand and smiled.

"I'm not a little girl. I will be tall when I become a lady." I put my two hands in my waist. To put up my confidence. He smiled.

"Yes, you will be tall like your sister."

I didn't understand before what he meant. He didn't type my sister because he likes the same gender.

Niran became my big brother that I never had. He became closer to me than my sister.

He was always there whenever I needed him.

He is intelligent, a scholar in our school. He was always in the top 1 in our school.

Many girls admire him. He became my tutor, my mentor and eventually my best friend.

Yes, I had a crush on him since I was young, but he always treated me like a child and not a lady. He became my role model then.

PRESENT TIME:

After my conversation with Niran. The hatred I felt for him and for Kiet lessened. I somehow understand them.

After all, I already changed my feelings to Kiet. He maybe my first boyfriend but Faye is my first love. I never felt the same way I have in Faye to Kiet.

I went back to my apartment, but Faye is not there. She already left. I texted her that I came back to my apartment. She has no reply.
