Chapter 4- Getting Lost In The Past

584 Words
Ryan sat in his dimly lit office, the drapes drawn to block out the harsh sunlight. His thoughts swirled with disappointment towards his mother, who seemed more concerned with status and royalty than understanding her son's feelings.Slumping onto the worn couch by the office window, Ryan reached for the pack of cigarettes on the coffee table. With a shaky hand, he brought one to his lips, the flame from the lighter casting a soft glow in the dimmed room. Inhaling deeply, he closed his eyes, trying to drown out his frustrations with each exhale. But amid the swirling smoke, a different name emerged in his thoughts - Rosie. A bittersweet smile tugged at his lips as memories of her flooded his mind. With a sudden determination, Ryan pushed himself up and made his way to the cluttered desk in the corner. Opening the drawer, he rummaged until his fingers brushed against the familiar texture of a small album. Pulling it out gently, he flipped it open, revealing a picture that never failed to tug at his heartstrings. Rosie Blackwood, her laughter frozen in time, her eyes filled with a warmth that spoke to his soul. Her beauty was timeless, her skin luminous, emerald eyes sparkling with joy, and cascading maroon curls that held the secrets of many bittersweet memories. Despite the allure she possessed, Rosie had chosen Ryan above all others, a fact that never failed to stir a sense of awe in him. Lost in the past, Ryan's mind painted vivid pictures of their moments together - stolen kisses under the stars, whispered promises of forever, and tender embraces that held worlds within them. Rosie had been his anchor in the storm of life, a beacon of love and understanding that seemed to elude even those closest to him. *Flashback 1( Pack Highschool)* In the bustling hallways of Blue Moon Pack Highschool, where the hum of students filled the air, Ryan and Rosie stood together on the stairs, clad in their school uniforms. Rosie clutched onto Ryan's tie, her gaze fixed on him, a mixture of warmth and worry in her eyes. "You won't leave me, right?" Rosie's voice was soft but laced with uncertainty. Ryan's smile never faded as he wrapped his arms around her waist, offering her reassurance. "Even if you become the next Alpha? Even if there are other girls who are more beautiful than me?" She pressed on, searching for certainty in his gaze. Ryan chuckled, his hands cradling Rosie's face gently. "Beauty means nothing, Rosie. It's a character that truly matters. No matter what the future holds, I'll always be by your side. Money, power, none of that compares to the love we share." But Rosie's worry persisted. "What if I'm not your mate?" Her words hung heavy in the air, causing a shadow to pass over Ryan's expression. "If you find your fated mate, will you leave me?" With a determined look, Ryan silenced her with a firm declaration. "I will reject them, Rosie. I don't care who they are. You are my chosen one." His assurance was unwavering as he cupped her cheeks, his eyes fixed on hers with unwavering devotion. A soft smile played on Rosie's lips as she whispered, "I love you, Ryan." His embrace enveloped her, his reply carrying the weight of a promise. "Love you more," he said, pressing a kiss to her forehead as the world around them faded away, leaving only the bond between two souls destined to defy fate.
