The next morning, after finishing breakfast, Ryan went straight to the training hall to give a brief to the fighters. As a Head Alpha, he had to ensure that his pack was ready for any threat that may come their way. After the briefing, Ryan left the hall and was about to go to his office when he was stopped by his mother, Lily. "Son," she called out, her voice filled with concern. "Mom, why did you come to the training hall? Is there something wrong?" Ryan asked, slightly puzzled by his mother's presence, that she never stepped in the training space. "There are many, Ryan," Lily said, while stroking Ryan's hair affectionately.
Ryan raised his eyebrows, not understanding his mother's behavior. "Just talk about it, mom. I have to go to the office, there is urgent work to be done," Ryan said, feeling uneasy. "This is about your marriage, Ryan," Lily finally said, her tone serious. Ryan's steps stopped for a few seconds, and he walked back with his mother. "What about my marriage?" he asked, his mind racing with possibilities. "Your father has been sick lately, and I'm not doing very well either. Bella is about to turn 18, so she will find her mate soon," Lily said, her voice trembling with emotion. "As soon as Bella finds her mate, she can get married first," Ryan suggested, hoping to alleviate his mother's worries. But Lily shook her head, her expression stern. "No, Ryan. That's not how it works. You have become the Head Alpha, so you need to introduce your Luna to the pack. Only your Luna can give you the strength and support you need." Ryan was silent for a moment, his thoughts swirling.
What his mother said was true. As the Head Alpha, he needed a strong and capable Luna by his side. But he hadn't found his mate yet, and he was waiting for the Moon Goddess to guide him. "Don't remain silent like this, Ryan," Lily said, her voice pleading with him. "Mom, you know I haven't found my mate yet. I'm waiting for her," Ryan said, his tone gentle but firm. He couldn't just settle for anyone, he had to wait for the one the Moon Goddess chose for him. "For how long?" Lily asked, her voice tinged with worry. "You are already 25 years old, Ryan. As parents, we also want to see your pups before something happens to us. If you don't find a mate, don't worry. I will find someone for you from the royal family. The rightful female wolf standing next to you, rich and strong." But Ryan shook his head, his eyes filled with determination. "Mom, this is not about money or power. I just want my mate, the one the Moon Goddess chooses for me. There is nothing stronger than the mate bond. And no wolf can give me strength, physically and mentally, like my mate can." Ryan and Lily had reached the elevator, and Ryan pressed the button to open it. "I know you haven't forgotten Rosie," Lily said, causing Ryan to take a step back in shock. Rosie? He hadn't heard that name in years. "I don't want to talk about my past anymore." Ryan said, his tone firm as he let out a low growl. Lily was taken aback by her son's sudden outburst.
She had never seen him so angry, and even Ryan didn't understand why he was showing his anger like this. But Lily continued, determined to make her son understand. "Rosie is someone who matches you very well. She is your chosen mate, Ryan. You were the one who rejected her. I really like Rosie. She is beautiful, rich, your..." "That's enough, mom," Ryan cut her off, his body shaking with anger. "I said don't talk about my past anymore, and no one needs to worry about my mate or Luna. I mean it." With that, Ryan stormed off, leaving Lily standing alone in the elevator. She never expected her son to react like this, and even Ryan was surprised by his own outburst. But deep down, he knew that he couldn't just settle for anyone. He had to wait for his mate, the one who was meant to stand by his side and rule the pack with him. And no one, not even his mother, could change his mind about that.
