Iris Mum’s scream echoed in my head on repeat. I couldn’t see as much of this memory but the agony in their voices as Lachlan and Ruben tried to save Alyssa was traumatising. It was as though I felt the link snap in my head again when Ruben was lost. I saw Lachlan carrying Alyssa into the garden to find Mum, blood flowing from her wounds. I watched as he broke down over her body and then was thrown across the garden by an explosion. I was aware of the tears flowing freely down my face and I could see the unshed ones in Odin’s eyes when I finally lifted my head. Jackson came into the study and immediately sat down beside me. I wanted to wrap myself up in his strong arms and let him take all the memories away but I knew he wasn’t mine to do so, so I forced myself to shut out my feeling
