Mr Samuels walked long into the night. The half-moon was bright and picked out the light grey of the tarmac of the road that led from the village to the coast. Wary of the road yet wary too of going astray, he followed its path but at some distance, reasoning that he could always find cover in the brush and scrub if need be. He needn’t have worried. The road saw no traffic that night. A blessing or a curse. Eventually, tiredness grew upon him and just as that tiredness threatened to become too great, Mr Samuels saw in the half-light a set of ruined walls. How convenient!
