His destination was the taverna where he and Kyria had had their first meal together. There were only a few tourists eating so Kenneth had no difficulty in finding a table. He didn't recognise the waiter who came to take his order but saw Takis busily cooking in the kitchen. He ordered keftedes, tzatziki, a portion of haloumi, a cabbage salad and a small beer. Takis saw Kenneth, waved and smiled, wiping his forearm across his forehead to indicate how hot it was in the kitchen. Halfway through his meal the waiter brought another beer. 'From Takis.' Although Kenneth would have preferred no more beer he did not wish to insult Takis so raised this second beer in thanks. As he left the taverna a taxi was approaching. Kenneth gratefully hailed it.
