Chapter 17
DisputeThey sat around a table in what was the meeting room in the hamlet. The five travellers and a representative from each of the six families that lived there had met in this room where the villagers took local decisions.
The previous night, each of the five had been taken in by one of the families living in the tiny community, because no one had a cottage large enough to accommodate all five, one dog and the family who normally lived there. Thadora did not like being split from her friends at first, but a few gentle words from Asphodel, and some more jocular ones from Grimmaldo, soon settled her fears. Now they once more sat around waiting for a decision to be made on their behalf.
